I saw the "sneak peek" from the week before (a pretty badass land cruiser.) and did you notice that it was actually two EGTs in one? The whole thing had been welded together from two 1st Gens!!! Right about the A Pillar there was a really gnarly weld that ran the entire height and width of the car, it looked like the car was sagging from craoppy weld quality, I rememebr Xzibit sayiong they might not be able to do it (but I'm sure they did it, but I am watching the Lakers instead of "Pimp my Ride")
and all i have to say is.... jesus christ in a wheelchair! that car was beyond haggard. it defined a whole new version of haggardness.
you were right, it was two escorts welded together. thing is, it wasn't all welded. there was some liquid nails and chewing gum holding the majority of the car(s) together. buuuuut, i dont think they were an EGT. almost positive it/they wasn't/weren't.
this thing even had roofing tar holding in the windshield. it was truely a disgrace.
..but the escort was a first for the west coast ricers.. they actually had to scrap the escort because seriously it was not fit for the road. they were surprised it held together for that long, because the car was on the verge off collapsing at any given moment.
sooooo, they tossed the escort aside and gave that kid a brand new scion and 'pimped' that thing out instead.
it had a floating amplifier for the subs, 7" lcd's on each headrest. and a huge "west coast customs" body sticker on the car with flames on the hood & sides. and of course, they put a wing on the back/top/whatever of that thing.
Bleh, come on... They should have Monster Garaged it and at least tried ot weld the cars completely together. But a Scion? Why not just get him an older ZX2 and pimp that, it would have been just as Ricey from them, and a lot cheaper for them as well... Although after seeing the Land Cruiser, and Mustang "pimpings" I have some respect for Xzibit, as he actually just restored the Mustang, which I'm sure we'll all agree is Pimp enough on its own. But at least they know their limits. I'm just hoping that maybe I can get into something like that, except hopefully not from anything MTV, but I would kill to get a free makeover for the scort... but I would also enjoy doing it myself just as much...
you know, of all the times i've watched that show. i noticed that these people have alllll these new kinds of gadgets and stereos and computers, but out of all of those cars, i only remember one of them mentioning they installed an alarm. and that was for the landcruiser because it had no doors prior.
it gets to me though. these people buy these poor-a**ed cars originally because they are poor-a**ed themselves. so, when they take their freshly pimped cars home, what ever happens afterwards? do they get into accidents, car/gear stolen? what? i just don't imagine these people's older habits (the habits of NOT taking care of their cars) dying when they have a car that needs some tlc.
reminds me of a buddy of mine who had a '93 corisca who never washed it, rarely changed the oil and neglected all the other things needed kept-up with the car. and now he has a sweet '97 sebring w/ 70K on it, and i don't imagine his old ways of treating cars ever changing..
a zx2 would've been sweet to pimp out, but i still would have preferred they bought a haggard box with 230,000 miles on it, and pimp that out. something challenging. a scion has no imaination. the reason why toyota created the scion lineup was because the car's motif was all about customization. you ever see one of those at the car show with every option on it?? it looks like something straight out of streetracer magazine. they're real nice cars, but still, i'd choose an escort over it.
...but then again, i'm not "X to the Z" Xzibit.
Yeah that's cheating... You can't just buy a new car. And it seems to me a lot of these shows don't actually do anything /I/ couldn't do to the car... I mean, I was watching one and they 'pimped' it by painting it, putting chrome wheels in and detailing the interior, replacing the old stuff that was worn with new stuff... I mean... Eh. When I wanna see them 'pimp' something, it had better have mechanical work and shiznit done to it... I'm talking about these 'project car' shows in general. I wanna see them do something other than rice it out and call it cool. Like that Funkmaster Flex show on Spike. That was kinda cool, I see them occasionally put in a new engine... But mostly it's just 'bling bling' rims and a good paint job and they call it done.
