I'm looking at all the posts around here, and it seems as if the Tokico Blues off the ZX2 seem to be the only shock meant for a lowered car. Now the price is right, but I have not totally decided on what kind of springs I want. I may want to go out and buy the Dropzone colovers, but the Tokico's will not fit. Now the KYB GR2's sound like they are a stock replacement, just a little stiffer, meaning they are the same lenght. So with lowering they will probably wear out fairly quickly. I would go with the Eibachs, but I want more then a 1" drop, Intrax and Sprint springs have a larger drop but are much softer, that is why I am turning to the Dropzones. They can lower it as much as I would like and are still stiff. I really dont care about ride quality, as of now, my car is stiff as hell with cut springs.

I definetly want it for handling, but the 1" drop doesnt do it for me, although on Escortracing.com message board some one stated you can get Eibach springs in any height, spring rate etc. If that is true I think I found my springs. My car is already dropped about 2 inches in the front, about, 1 inch in the rear, and the front is stiff as ever, it handles much better then stock too, but I drove my friends Civic yesterday with a Zeal B2 true coilover setup, $2200 Canadian, and man I was hooked, I need a real setup, not a hackjob. But I still want the lowered look.

I think what you heard about Eibach springs and being able to order any length and rate may be a little out of context. This is not true for regular springs, but it is true for coilover springs (2.5" diameter) As Eibach springs come on ground control kits (which i highly recommend over the dropzones...~$400) you can order whatever suits you...great when corner weighing the car. Also, Ground Control has 2 kits, one for stock struts and one for the tokico struts (even though the stockers are tokico anyway :) )

The ZX2 S/R struts are not the blues, they are different and from what others with the blues have told me, the S/Rs are better. They are valved specifically for the Eibach 1" springs, but ppl still use sprint and intrax, and i use H&R. I know of an ITA GT that runs the S/Rs with 500# springs!!! A good autox set-up calls for 250# springs up front and 200# in the rear.

You could also get springs from Hypercoil or many others...2.5" diameter is standard. I know the weaponR kit is not 2.5", something like 2.25"...no idea what the dropzones are or the quality. And if your willing to spend the money, Mazdaspeed adjustable struts (~$180ea) Ford Racing coilover kit (~$1000) PCC Coilover kits (~$850-2500) Koni adjustable inserts (~$150ea) Custom valved (~$200ea, merely a guess)

The Weapon Rs are 2.75" Inside diameter.

Skuce informed me that the cap on the S/R Tokicos can be removed with a chisel and a hammer, so that the coil-over sleeves will fit.

The S/Rs are certainly the best value.. if not the best shock.
