alright guys... ive been tossin around using megasquirt but have now decided to go piggy back. at least for the wet rainy season maybe next track season ill toss up a standalone system.

i just wanted to get your thoughts on an apexi safc ll. i would like to be able to push 12-14 psi occationally and i was curious to know if this would be sufficient to cover my fuel needs for this boost.

hey for the sake of not cluttering the board ill ask this in here i may end up just cluttering the board anyway but hopefully those that look at this topic will know... does anyone know how to tune the vaf for a turbo application... i thought there was a how too around (im unsure if it was for the rx7 vaf or escort vaf) basically there was a set number of clicks to retard the adjustment on one of the vafs... anyone know?

Matt Kelley used an MSD 2.0 for ignition and a BEGI 2025 FMU for fuel. The only electronics were in the MSD for boost retarding.

That was for an LX though.
I ment Matt_M from ERDT. He had a LX-E, or the tracer 4 door with the 1.8. He used a AFC for fuel management.

well if you use the Apexi s-afc. yes it doesn't do anything about timing but that's why if you are boosting a bp then it's crucial that you use a msd boost timing master in conjunction with that. that takes care of your timing needs while under boost. if you have a bpt then it's another story cuz the bpt's come with the knock sensor to take care of timing related detonation.

EDIT*
just to add to run 14 psi which i plan on doing this spring since i'm too tied down with boost i'd recommend you do what i'm doing, i recently sold my turbo kit on clubprotege but i'm gonna boost again in the spring and run 14 pounds so this is what i'm doing. i have a gtx ecu and a walbro 255 high pressure pump(not high flow, i just like it better), rx7 460cc injectors, i'm ordering a new msd btm, a s-afcII and a couple of other things but i think with this much you should be more than ok. the gtx ecu i like cuz it has those valuable stuff in it. a lil less tuning.

see my problem is im not going to pay 350 bucks for an ecu (guessing... last time i saw one on ebay it was way up there) when i could spend 600 bucks on a megasquirt standalone and tune everything by computer... if i had a gtx ecu to start with i could see going that route...

anyway what exactly is the msd boost timing master.... ill research myself but what kinda install times and difficulty am i looking at and would it compair to a knock sensor?
