Aloha dudes and duddettes,

A cold air intake won't help you at all on that engine... the 1.9L SEFI sucks. The breathing problems it encounters is purely from the crappy valve head. The block of the engine really isn't that bad... it's just the valve head that stinks.

but if you're really bent on using it, you basically just slap it on the end and use hose clamps or CV boot clamps to seal it onto the stock hose. If you've got the time and money, you can also fab your own out of aluminum or SS, but most people ghetto-fab it with PVC.

well....what does your intake system looks like? any brand to which we could refer too?

all you have to do is :

1. Unbolt 2 circular clamps located on each side of the black rubber tube ( your factory intake system)

2. Then remove the tube and set it away..you won't need it...but keep it cauz you might want to go back to stock if you don't like your new intake system or if you ever want to sell the car someday...

3. Now, with your new custom intake, you will still need the MAF sensor, which is an aluminium machined piece that is inbetween the black rubber tube and the black box which contains the rectangular air filter),

4. If you have a cone filter....you won't need your plastic box which contains the rectangular air filter...but you well most likely need the sensor that is located on the side of this box......so...unplug this sensor...then remove it from the plastic box.then unscrew the plastic box...and remove the box along with the stuff that is located under....wich is an air inlet duct and a resonator....you don't need those parts...

5. Now that you have both of your sensors, you can start to think about installing your new intake kit... With your kit...you probably have some rubber couplings with clamps...now.

6. What you need to do is try to fit the intake tube corectly....First of all the 90 degree elbow in the intake tube should be mount on the Throttle body ( on the INtake Manifold) and the maf sensor should be mounted on the other side of the tube...near the front of the car...then...you will have to mount the Cone FIlter to the MAF sensor with some kind of an Adapter..it should be included with your intake kit....

7. Once everything is bolted and clamped securely...you will have to plug the VALVE COVER HOSE somewhere to the intake tube AFTER the MAF SENSOR and the CONE FILTER...( the valve cover is what has the FORD 1,9 SEFI written on it...)

8. You will also have to fit the second Sensor that you had previously taking off the Black plastic box (with air filter) to your intake tube...make sure the little red pin is inside the tube or it won't read correctly some important datas... if there is no already pre-drilled holes....and don't want to drill in your intake tube yourself...you can fit this sensor to the Cone filter's rubber section....just make sure it is located before the MAF sensor or close enough, cauz if you don't, you're Computer will receive wrong data...im not sure but i think this sensor mesure the temperature of the incoming air....not sure but i thinks its correct...

Now....make sure everything is air tight, that there is no leaks around sensors and that your cone filter is as far as possible from the engine and the Exhaust manifold...cauz you don't want to suck hot air in.... you can always check around on cardomain.com..some escort owners have pics with INtake kit installed

Hope this helped....and if not well im sorry for loosing your time :p I know pics would be great but i don't have an intake kit on my car yet...but you can check out my engine bay on my cardomain site if you want to..on page 1....you'll see what im talking about....
