You'd be the first.
Someone did swap in a 1.8 V6 from a Mazda MX-3 but I don't remember who or what they put it into.

Why not a 2gr-fe at that point? They’re common, considered glorious in an mr2 and probably could be squeezed in our cars.
Definitely on my list only isssue is that it’s an expensive swap compared to 1mz-fe. You can pickup an old Camry v6 for next to nothing and I’m pretty sure my little escort will fill faster than it should with 200ish hp and a torquey v6.

Several years ago my son showed me three guys on this site that did the MX3 V6 swap, one of them left the 1.8 in the junk yard and used instead the 3.0 out of a 626. apparently the two engines are cut from the same block. The trick would be to find a MX3 donor car for the drivetrain, crossmember and suspension parts.

I keep calling the 1.8L v6 klze, the 2.5 v6 is the klze. you can find them in the ford probes, well if you can find a probe.

The engine bay is super tight as is, especially on the belt side. I think the BPs leave more room than the Zetecs, but doing anything on the belt side is a royal pain. I can't imagine trying to wedge in a v-6, especially one from another manufacturer. Rewire will be an enormous task also.

Whats wrong with the BP? It has good support and parts are still available. Want more torque; add a small turbo and keep the boost low.
