I replaced the right outer tie rod end, which had a torn boot, with a new one. The left one, meanwhile, has its boot still intact, but the Tie Rod End is loose. I would like to re-use the right one, because it is nice and tight. Last night, I removed the boot, as much as I could, but it appears to be held on by the rim underneath. I cut it away with a razor blade, but the top of the boot is still under that rim (kind of looks like the edge of a soup can), and cleaned the Tie Rod End with Brake Parts Cleaner. It is beautiful, clean, and dry, but without a boot.

Is there any way to put a new boot on this sucker, or should I just punt and get a new Outer Tie Rod End? I figure if I can live with just a boot, I can save about $25.

    Any experience out there?

    ^^^ what he said. ;)

besides, you're already in there anyway, it'll probably just be faster to replace the tie rod end than the friggin' boot.
