Hi all,
I've got a K reg escort without central locking.
When filling up with fuel today I noticed the immobiliser light didn't switch on when I locked my door. After further inspection I found my passenger door had a visitor trying to open it.

Anyway they didn't get in and my car is still locked.
However it seems they have taken out the alarm, I think I can see a cross on a flat wire being screwed in.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows a quick way to get the alarm back on before I can get it fixed tomorrow.
The little buggers may return tonight.
(P.S thanks to these forums I now know what that bloody rattling is)

This one sounds like it came from across the pond.

I have no clue what any of this stuff is, but it sounds to me like when someone tried to pick your lock, she (yeah she, just for fun) has has completed a circuit that has caused your whatchyamacallit to be disabled.

You could try putting a really strong magnet (rare earth magnet) up to the locking cylinder and see if that is able to withdraw whatever is stuck within. I doubt it will work.

You'll probably need to take your door's interior panel out. From there you can try figuring out which circuit has been closed and terminate the wires elsewhere so the circuit can't be completed. It looks light the entire lock may need replacing in the end.

Or you could put a big, bad, hungry dog in your car overnight.

In my case, I'd put a hundred bucks on the driver's seat. Then, when the bastards lift my car, I'd come out ahead on the insurance.
