I've got a 1999 Ford Escort w/manual trans

The anti-lock brakes engage all the time and the thing won't stop.
I popped the fuse out that powers the system and it stops now, but I don't have AC.

The teeth on the front hubs look fine.
What typically fails on the anti-lock brakes and whats the best way to repair it.

Are there any other work arounds besides the fuse?

Thanks, Gilbert

unplug the module under the hood, or one of the relays.

ABS computer is under the passenger seat, you can unplug it there.

As far as things failing the only thing i could think is that the signal to the computer is getting screwed up meaning that either one of the sensors or its wire is damaged or perhaps it's displaced and the offset distance from the signal ring to the sensor isn't right.

Was it throwing a light indicating a stored code? Not sure if any of the auto stores can pull those codes but it might be a good place to start.
