Ok so my Friday started with a noise in the rear end. I went to the shop to check it out and saw that my car did not take this last winter very well. I'm have rot on the underside is several places, broken strut spring and a bent control arm. That with the C.E.L. being on due to my 02 sensor that I actually bought and just haven't installed yet, it will take more that it's worth to fix. My sticker runs out in Nov. and I intend on having a new car before then. I will more than likely be parting it out around that time then scrapping it. With luck I'll find a nice Escort that I can swap parts out on. With my luck won't be happening. Either way I'll still be around.

Sorry to hear of it - and good luck in finding another un-reusted Escort. I have friends in the central Minnesota area who have hobby cars they keep parked in their garage for 6 months; because of the salt on the roads in winters.

Sorry to hear about the rust. Hopefully you'll find a unrusted Scort in the south. Could you post pictures of the rust on underbody?

Sorry to hear it. I went through/am going through the same thing. Misery loves company. I happened upon a needs-work-but-has-potential Escort even cheaper though so I'll be swapping and fixing and massaging this second one into shape. I'll recoup about 1/3 of what I paid for the second one when I scrap the first one, and almost every penny spent on the first one can be pulled off and put into the second one.

If you're patient and attentive, these things tend to work out. Patience is key though as you don't want to just jump on the first thing; that's how I screwed myself on the first car.

Yea, I do too. Wish I lived in a snow free state, or at-least a state that doesn't use salt on roads for snow and ice. Florida sounds nice!
