Hey, I cleaned my cone filter yesterday and went to oil it and realized that I was out of the refill oil. Reinstalled w/out oil and drove into work today. Think this could be bad in any way? Planning on getting the oil on the way home... Just something I hadn´t thought about until now.

speaking of cone filters, where can I pick up JUST A CONE filter for my 91 EGT? I don´t want to buy an expensive K&N intake tube/cone filter conversion kit, I just want something I can bolt on to the VAF. Does such a product exist?

I did notice that Advance Auto is starting to carry stuff for the import crowd. They´ve got a pretty nice selection of cone filters -in nice colors too! - that would fit on the GT. You´d still have to get the adapter plate though, or fabricate your own. Shouldn´t be too difficult, especially if you have access to machining tools. Then you could control the flare and taper of the adapter inlet to perfectly match the VAF (or whatever it´s called).

I don´t know about the flow rate however. The cone filters they carry are pretty to look at, but would advise you to do some comparison shopping to make sure they flow enough air to be worth it.

Agree with you on the price issue. Granted I bought my intake used and from a friend. All it was was the filter and adapter. It´s a K&N setup purchased from Rod Millen Motorsports when they did Escorts. Think the price was around $180new, and that´s ridiculous. I got it for $50 which I was happy to pay since it was my first aftermarket piece.

Siragan, here is your best bet, You cant beat this price!!! cheapest i´ve ever seen with buy it now at 13.00$ also you would have to pay shipping but that combined with the 13.00$ is cheaper then just buying the cone filter! And like zeemax said you would have to make your own VAF adapter, well this one has it so you just bolt the plate to the VAF, and then use the provided hose clamp to clamp down the cone filter to the VAF adapter plate. Hope this helps you bro.

zeemax- the advance auto place where I live stocks only two things for the 91 EGT in terms of "performance" filters:
1. K&N drop in paper filter
2. K&N cone filter and intake tube kit (about 186 bucks through them)

I want the second one, but it´s a hella steep price.

On the other hand, what 94EGTdap is saying is very reasonable in price, but I don´t want to blow my money (even if it is only like 20 bucks) on a little no-name cone filter that was made in some sweatshop in south africa out of recycled carpet.

I appreciate the help guys, thanks.

Sirigan, what I mean is that Advance, at least in my state, now carries generic cone filters in a variety of colors. You don´t have to get a specific make for your car. Simply match the pipe inlet to your adapter. It would be easier as previously mentioned to get one off of Ebay since it would already have the adapter.

If your going to ever buy a full intake...then go to www.ctamotorsports.com and buy one form Chris.

As for the VAF adapter plate ...get the standard Ford/Nissan adapter from Rob at www.zxtuner.com.

The one that has the IAT sensor threaded into the plate is your best bet because if you don´t get that one you have to do a custom loctaion for the IAT sensor then.

the good thing about K&N filters is they LAST FOREVER!! EVEN THROUGH CARS :D... (i pulled mine out and am putting it in next escort) but yeah.. you never have to replace it.. just buy a $10 reoiling kit which should last you like 4 years.... and apparently you can feel the difference... ( put mine on winter so i couldnt tell the diff on ice)
