Hey everyone first off I would like to say what a great site! A wealth of knowledge here keep up the good work!

I have been researching and reading posts on this site trying to figure out what I need to do this. My question is I have a base 97 escort no A/C and no power options I have found the electric solonoid for the trunk release and no button or plug under dash for it Also found the plugs and harness for the RAP module and a black plug behind the passenger kick panel what goes here? harness? relay? what parts will i need to get at the junk yard besides the lock acctuators and harnesses? and the RAP module? What years will work? only 97 or all 3rd gen with anti theft and keyless entry?I'll also need to order the key fobs also I've already done the tach cluster swap,Map light swap from my 95 lx wagon,And the front seats and rear split 60/40 rear seat from the wagon She's a work in progress hopefully this can be done :D

By adding the missing RAP module and driver's door lock actuator, you can probably bring it up to the features on my 97 LX: The ability to control the driver's door lock and trunk release with a key FOB, the ability to engage the flashing THEFT LED on your tach cluster, and the ability to use the Panic button on your FOB to set off the horn beeping and headlights flashing (helpful to find your car in a lot).

I don't think you can upgrade to the full anti-theft package because you lack the wiring harnesses for the other 3 doors, the hood tamper detect switch and the starter kill circuit.

But I suppose you can try. The RAP module from an LX like mine (driver door only) is different from an LX with power locks on all doors and the full theft system. You may already have the driver's door actuator. Install a basic RAP module, register a FOB and try it out.

so all I need is a basic rap module and the driver door actuator and fob? that sounds easy enought to install i would be happy with that yah I found out the 97 systems were different than the later models well hopefully i can find a 97 with just the module and lock actuator for the driver door

ok guys I think i have everything i just picked up the basic rap module the wire harness from the passenger kickpanel area and the actuator from the driver door now my question is how hard is it to get the harness from the dash to door with the lock actuator plug on it? I checked my door and I dont have the harness for the actuator only for the power mirrors is there a plug under the dash to unplug and the harness can be pulled out? or is it a big pita?
