Did any third gens, come with a bracket that only had alternator and power steering? Sort of like how earlier generations had specific brackets

I know there were some third gens that came without a/c from the factory although rare. It would probably be a hard find. I remember my first gen escort only had an alternator bracket since it was the fully stripped base model without ps or a/c. Was neat how basic that car was at times.

It's been a while since I've dug around the water pump, power steering, compressor area (so I may be wrong), but I seem to recall that the A/C compressor is bolted directly to the engine block and not secured by any bracket. (Someone correct me if this isn't right).

You can purchase a non-AC accessory belt for the Escort at just about any auto parts store. It will bypass the AC compressor pulley.

I bought one last fall when my compressor clutch bearing failed. The non-AC belt clears the compressor pulley so you don't have to remove the compressor if you don't want to.

I plan to replace the compressor, the pulley and the dryer in the next few months before the really hot weather gets up to where I live.
