im not quit sure how to explain this. what my car does is it bucks or temporarty looses momentum kinda like when you flutter the gas on a manual its that sorta sensation and the tack at the same time jumps up and down when the car does this. so far to try and correct this i have changed the distributor, the cap and the rotor i have also ran dry fuel throguh it and fuel injection cleaner through it. The car is a 1.8 mtx.
any ideas would be welcome thanks.

My buddies 89 GT is doing the same thing. Cept he´ll lose momentum, his tach will go crazy and it´ll stall.
When he tries to restart it the engine will turn but won´t start. He was going about 150km/h for half an hour before it happened. He brought the car in and the guys tried to replicate it but nothing.
Everybody guessed it was the fuel pump but they didn´t bother fixing it. Hasn´t happened in a few days but we still don´t know exactly what it was.

it dosnt matter if its cold or hot and it dosnt matter if i am accelerating or decelerating, it will do it in the middle of a shift at any rpm and today it stalled at 2 diffrent stop lights at 2 diffrent times. it will do it at constant speed. i changed my fuel filter recently also. and i had a diagnosis fan on it and they said that it was the distributor so like i said i changed the distributor the cap and the rotor.

After driving for about two hours at 3 grand or more my car would start to cut out every now and then, until one day it just died, and wouldn´t start again until it cooled down. I had the TFI-IV ignition system that Ford has been catching hell about so I firgured that the ignition module was the prob. Anyway, I put a new one in, and at the same time I put an MSD box on it that I had laying around, and so far so good.

I am a 1998 ZX2 owner and I too am having a very annoying problem. It started about a year ago. Problem with stalling upon start up. with warmer weather it has subsided to a flutter when idling and also hesitates when accelerating. Took it to the dealer, they could not find anything wrong, told me I had contaminated gas. wanted to perform $1300
worth of work. I passed. Found several people with same problem. Any suggestions?
