did you know you can make 9007 headlights work in your escort? you can, and trust me, it is worth the 20 minutes it takes to do this. all you have to do is reverse your low beam wire at the connector with the ground. then shave off the lower two guides that are in the headlight casing.

1. open the hood.
2. unplug the headlight connector.
3. the red/yellow wire needs to be switched with the black wire
4. remove the headlight
5. look into the housing from where you removed the bulb. you will see three little pegs. these are what keeps your bulb in place without spinning. now the only difference in the 9007 is were the bottom two pegs are. just shave the pegs off, put your new bulb in, and hook it up. i highly recomend that you buy Sylvania Silverstar headlights. they are a little pricey (20 bucks a piece) but they do award you with a lot more light at night.

I just went out and bought the Sylvainia Silver Star 9004 bulbs at my local autoparts store (on sale 20 Bucks a pair!) and I love them I see no reason to take the time to do this mod, but hey, if you want the 9007 Bulbs go for it! I personally don't see anything wrong with the 9004 Bulbs.

the 9007 bulb actually uses a different filament pattern, which in turn, changes the light pattern projected onto the road. it gives a much more directed beam pattern on the road, and shines farther out giving you much more light to drive by. look inside the bulb, and you can see the difference between the bulbs.

not to contradict your judgement here, but i was always told by many people, there is a reason for any car company to do what it is they do. If they youse H1, gotta be some reason. And in our instances they use 9004, gotta be a reason. somebody did the mod to my original headlights, i didnt notice and huge difference, if there is one, i think its only usefull for non-illuminated country road driving. But hey tis my opinion, take it as you will. But good job if it doesnt leak...
