this really doesnt include an escort, or a ford at all, but i was in my boys 2000 Camaro SS, supercharged yet. fastest thing ive ever driven. he was up at the track, and we were changing his computer chip, my uncle was there in his 90 T/A. It was great this import crew came up to us and said lets race, show u a REAL car. i said lets go, we get on the track, and i keep it slow for the first time then slam it into 5th and hes gone, the civic had no chance, running auto shot NOS, and i smoked his ass too, what it came down to, raw american muscle prevailed once again...why did they drop the camaro...WHY :-[

I dont see the point in drag racing... it´s so pointless. The emphasis shouldn´t be on who has the head full of air and wants to drive in a straight line, it should be on who is the more skilled driver, like autocrossing.

<---- doesn´t get it.

Well, siragan, to each his own...i don´t see the point of Nascar. but hell that´s me. whoopty do you can go around an oval 100 times. I can do that shit in my escort. *snore*

I will only watch the WRC....might watch some dragsters run down teh 1/4 mile every now and then... but WRC is the only motor sport that takes any skill IMO.

I ain´t touchin that one.

Okay.. maybe I will poke it a bit:

NASCAR is downright boring compared to road/rally racing. I like drag racing because it´s an easy type of racing for the average joe to get into.. and like autocross, it´s a type of racing where you´re working to improve upon yourself (and your machine) and not neccessarily trying to beat the other guys. That´s a healthy type of racing (when it gets to Pro Drag Racing, it´s just like anything else.. pure competition).

It takes skill to drive a car to it´s max potential in a straight line and/or around corners... just different skills. :)

Rally drivers do take the cake though.. usually the WRC guys don´t blink during the stages.. too much information to be lost... seriously.. watch them on Speedvision.. they don´t blink. That´s some intense shit :-W

taking formula 1 carts around corners on a dime and then speeding up to 200 +mph i think takes some serious concentration and skill too, easy to lose control in one of those engines-with-wheels. and road races like Le Mans are just pure stamina and endurance tests.

but i do agree that WRC drivers are godly...just insane :-W

Lemans is great because it´s a road course (which demands a high skill level) and its 24 hour. Not to mention that the cars are just cool as hell. Remember when the mercedes (was it a mercedes?) flew up in the air and flipped off the track? That was incredible!

yeah james, ever man to his own... I agree.

Rally racing is super super exciting to watch, let alone actually do. Some of the things that those guys can pull just blows my mind completely. Their ability to judge and control their cars on such a wide variety of terrain is very humbling.

I´d like to see some of that broadcasted on the telly here in the states. Hem.

I remember that - it was as if a giant invisible hand just picked it up and tossed it into the trees. I just knew the guy was dead but he walked away. Amazing site. You know we´re going to see that scene on an "amazing crashes" video sometime soon...

I´m not 100% sure on this, but I think that the drivers sweat so much in their suits that they don´t have to pee.

You know the plastic tube on the helmets that blows air on the driver vented in from outside the car? well, they have another tube like that, only it´s got a mild vacuum in it, and it´s located in the crotchular region of the driver´s suit. It vents "waste materials" out of the car.
What do you think that spray is that you see them wiping off thier windshields periodically from the in-car cameras?
"waste materials" from the car thier following. ^_^
