Didn´t know quite where to put this but I thought the A/C effects the engine so here is fine.

Anyway, the more i get to thinking about it the more I get to liking the idea of an Air conditioned car....right now, it doesn´t work. Only warm air blows out. Last summer, even in 97 degree heat I survived...but with a sweaty back. So....My questions are:

1.) How much to recharge the system?
2.) How much to refill the refrigerant?
3.) What type of refrigerant did a 92 GT use from the factory?
4.) What type is actually legal now?
5.) WHERE is it legal to get this done?
6.) How much for a new A/C Pump, condensor? (I´d like to know both OEM, AND any aftermarket system(s))

I heard from someone that the new refrigerant is called R12, and you have to have it done at a shop with special qualifications to work with the refrigerant. I can do the leg work in finding a shop here in ft wayne to do that, so I just need to know what to tell them specifically so they don´t try to f*&k me over. Thanks in Advance. ;-)

james....i posted a lil bit ago about my ac.. R134a is the refridgerant used to replace r12.

R12 is illegal to use unless its taken to a specialized dealer. W/ systems using r12(which since u have a 92, you have) expect to pay alot of money. Thats why i was so concentrated on tryin to convert my system to r134 since my a/c is already bad which no one really wanted to give me advice on...
Compressors are about 100-200 bucks depending on where u get them.. Condensors are cheap....My opinion...find out how to have a "friend ;-) " do it for you if u got the how to´s and parts for him to do it.

I have a 92 GT and I had my a/c checked for leaks and refilled. It lasted maybe 2 months. I´m wondering if the fuse has any role in this? :-o

ur a/c clutch or compressor is prolly goin bad or the condensor....its illegal unless u go to a shop that has the equipment....ur llookin to spend about 500 to 600 to get it serviced..and about 200 or so to get it recharged.

you will prolly have to take it to a mechanic. I can find out for sure how
much everything is from my mechanic on monday if you want me to.
I gotta to take mine in for something weird. He is excellent too.
I have to say my GT´s air will freeze yo but off. Id to it to keep
from having a sweaty back, lol, thats if it isnt to much.
