I have a question (albeit probably a stupid one). Will a standard Escort transaxle (manual) interchange with the ZX2? I am curious because someone in my area is giving away some parts off of a '95 Escort including a 5-speed trans. Mine in my '99 works fine but has 206,000 miles on it. If they are interchangeable I wouldn't mind keeping it around just in case.

It will bolt up but you would have to use the axles, flywheel, and shifter off the 95 and because the 95 flywheel doesn't have a crank trigger you will run into some problems. Yes, it can work. Is it practical? No.

Kind of what I figured which is why I didn't run out and get the thing. Thanks for your information.
