Hey Im new here and I have a 1999 Ford Escort SE 117,000KM on it. I was just wondering about this weird sounds its making. I just got an oil change 3 days ago and now 2 days ago I started hearing this "clicking" sound when idleing in all gears put Neutral. I asked around and apparetnly its not a fan belt. What could this possibly be? I also recently hit a curb and broke my tie rod, wheel bearing and rim, but all was fixed and ok. Any ideas of what this could be? The hitting the curb occured after the oil change. Thanks, I also noticed the engine sounds louder when accelerating, does anyone have an idea of what this could be? Please it is really bothering me! Thanks!!

Thanks for your response, I am not sure about the change I recently bought it. I know that the car was well maintained and when I bought it I took it to a garage and they said all was ok. Would these belts just suddently start making this random clicking sound just like that? Does the fact that the sound does not occur in Neutral have any information with it? Thanks again

Would that be expesnive to change? You see its my first car and I already spent quite a bit fixing my running into the curb problem. I am taking it to a garage tommorow morning to see whats the problem, Ill post a response telling you what the mechanic says and maybe you could offer an opinion? Thanks I could also post pictures of it

Hey thanks for all your replies. I took it to a mechanic and he just said the engine is getting old, but the ticking is problably coming from the "stabilizer" ( I forgot the actual name of the component) that prevents the engine from vibrating so much. He said not to worry about it. The sound is coming from this "stabilizer place". I also had a problem that started last night where as I slowed down the breaks would make a sound similer to that of a squeeking bed, it slowed down as the car slowed down. I took it and got the breaks cleaned all the rust and it stoped. The other mechanic I took it to this morning said it would be like that for ever (guess he was wrong).; I just bene having so much random problems with this car this week it is kind of upsetting :(
