Been busy but i got around to taking pics and uploading them.
The engine bay is extremely messy right now but ill clean it up when it gets a little warmer than 40 degrees and we can go a day without a snow storm.. I rigged the lower radiator hose so its able to be driven until my other hose gets here.

Straight pipe anyone? :p

Im actually just about out of argon and i was getting cold so i tac welded on a turndown and when it gets warmer ill finish the last part of the exhaust and put a muffler on. Im thinking about buying a 5"x8" magnaflow and keeping it hidden with just a peice of exhaust pipe as a tip. sleeper style
And for a non important rant.. My sister brought her boyfriend over here and he seems to think that he NEEDS to help me build this even though hes practically shown me he knows nothing about cars. I dont want to be an asshole to him but i work a lot better and faster when i dont have somebody hovering over me and trying to tell me im doing things wrong and he knows the correct way of doing things. Then to make things even better he found the need to stick his hands in by the intake mani while i was trying to tighten some bolts and he ended up breaking the top of the dip stick off. Needless to say i was pissed but yet he still didnt get the hint that i dont want him around my car and now he thinks he will be riding in my car to see what it can do. :wtf: :nonono:

lol im too nice i guess. I know he wants to be my friend and help out with things which i appreciate but even after i tell him i got things under control he still is right there lol.

Anyways.. I just got it running like 2 hours ago. First few attempts were a no go. It just cranked and cranked not even trying to fire and my first thought was my tuning was off somewhere so i spent waaaay too long going back over my tuning trying to get it to start. Now there was nothing wrong with my base tune i made to cause a no start and i knew this so i was quite confused. I heard the fuel pump priming so i never thought to check pressure at the rail until i was completely out of ideas and quite disappointed as well. Well i opened up the schrader valve on the rail and wow the thing was still completely dry with not even the slightest gas fume to be smelled 8O So next i removed the sending unit which i really hate doing with a completely full tank of gas lol. Anyways if you read one of my previous posts about the walbro fuel pump fitment issues you'll know it didnt fit worth crap in the housing. Ended up finding out that the pump oulet did not have a tight enough fit when mounted in the sending unit so it was not building up enough pressure to even let the fuel reach the engne. I had to slide a rubber sleeve/O-ring thing over the pump outlet to make a tighter fit. Now im not sure how i didnt realize this fitment issue when i originally installed the pump but i missed it somehow. It is fixed now and the car starts right up fine although it is pretty rich at idle, it seems to straighten out when you give it some gas and revs up very smoothly. Ill be taking it off the ramps tomorrow and taking it for the first drive and will be monitoring the wideband and do some datalogging. Im even more impressed with my tuning software now then i was before.

Small update.
haven't done much really besides daily driving it recently and trying to stay out of trouble while doing so :p Made a few ppl get butthurt when they thought they were going to be racing a slow escort lol.
On to the pictars
Wrapped the manifold because the black coating turned brown and looked ugly. Looks like rust in the picture under the wrap and on the turbine housing.

Installed solid front trans mount. Still need to make one for the rear maybe. I have the poly inserts but meh.

Today i finished building the exhaust. The straight pipe was a bit too loud and drawing too much attention.

perfect fit :D dual 2.5" outlet with slash cut tips. No fartcans allowed on my beast. Nice smooth tone and low rumble at idle.

Dayum even the beater is lookin good 8)

REP IT

If i have time tomorrow i'll be putting on my Addco sway bar that i painted up with some valspar.

Also a few weeks back when I had my right foot to the floor my wastegate actuator decided i no longer needed boost.

took it apart to see what was up and the nut on actuator rod came off somehow.

and then we were back in business in no time!!

Well the sway bar is a no go. Doesnt even fit on the car, hits on the subframe... I guess i wasted my time on that one and dealing with all the shit i had to with the member i bought it off from was for nothing. Now back to looking for a GT sway bar

Yeah it sucked but thinking about it now, most of my frustration was from work and the car issues just didnt help much. I had ordered some new aluminum welding supplies a few days ago so when they get here i will weld on an adapter onto the radiator outlet so there won't be any need for a silicone reducer in the future. I also plan on welding together a few of the charge pipes to get rid of a few couplings. And since i seem to do my best work when im mad i also fabbed up some mounting brackets/plates in order to use my large Addco rear sway bar. I have not been able to actually install it yet due to constant rain but soon hopefully.
On a side note.. My buddy came over last night to to have a few beers and rag on me about i should of bought a honda instead of building up an escort which is the reason for being left stranded. I looked at him and said if it wasn't for the damn honda civic radiator i wouldn't have had any problems

Finally got time and nice weather to make my rear sway bar fit.
Mounting plates made

bar set in place

I went for a short test drive after i finished up the install and what a difference. I'm in love it for sure. The other day i received my aluminum mandrel bend so i can weld a new outlet onto my radiator.

Still looking for parts for rear disc brake swap..

Decided to snap some pics today while cruising around in this nice weather.

Heres the radiator after i welded on the 90* outlet.

I bought some new NGK iridium sparkplugs 2 heat ranges colder that i plan to put in soon. I also bought some Magnecor 8.5mm plug wires still waiting for those to show up though. Just bought a new megasquirt 2 today which will be for fuel control only. I had already purchased a megasquirt ECU and built it myself but it wouldnt hold firmware so it was sent out to be looked at. Well after alot of troubleshooting we found out it would just be easier to buy a new one so thats what i did today 8) I also added another kill to the list, completely walked on a 4th gen subie impreza hatchback. Dunno what mods were done besides the loud exhaust but i left him when i hit 3rd :D

im hoping ill win a 2004 mazda miata for another project car. There is a local raffle going on with 250 tickets being sold for $100 a peice. im buying a couple tickets since its a Texas car in mint condition. Plus i have always wanted one :p
