I decided to go a different route than i had originally planned with my gauge pod. I was going to make pods for the a pillar but after some mock up i did not like how it looked at all with the space avalible. After tossing around a few different ideas i decided i would mount them where the center console cubby thing was. After all was said and done heres how it came out.

teh sex! :p
I will have installed pics up in a few days.

I have a strong feeling I ran into you on ebay, 98escortdude  About the Rs mani.. Anyway.. Im thinking of going civic rad, but havnt seen a central mounted turbo in the bay with one yet.. Think you could snap a pic of your mani/turbo in the bay with the radiator as a mock up? Id be interested in seeing how she fits. What turbo is that btw? Looks like a 14b maybe? Too tired..

Yup it is a 14b for now. I dont think it was me you ran into on ebay about an rs manifold, i have never had one or ever wanted one either :D Unfortunately i cannot take any pics of the turbo installed until spring comes back to vermont. the car is put away for the winter and it will be a little while before i can get it back out and get the turbo installed. However there have been a number of people that used civic radiators on here so you may be able to find some pics on here somewhere if you want to do a bit of searching.

Oh, well I thought maybe you were. It was a cheap/rare mani that I was going to get to add to the collection of stock turbo parts.. Thrown in the pile next to the Exp mani and teeny cv31 turbo.
Anyway, That is cool.. Id looked a bit and not seen any 3rd gens is why I asked.. I ran a 13.2 on a 14b in the tsi, then upgraded lol.

Looks good.. If it wasn't shiny id say perfect.. Infact I had this same idea after ordering my gauges and trying to find somewere to put them.. Only concern is how low they are.. I like my boost gauges up were I can see them, so it may get "fabbed" into the cluster.. Or might do away with the factory gauges and just run all aftermarket w/o speedo (who needs one? If you cant figure out how fast your driving turn your licence in).

Thanks! I fabbed these so that they had a slight upward angle for better viewing. As much angle allowed before they would interfere with the console frame.

I figure its not something i will need to be looking at constantly so this should be a suitable location for me. When your sitting back in the seat the gauges are clearly visible and the numbers are easy to see.

Just ordered a bunch o' shat. FMIC and piping kit, downpipe flange, JEGS 2.5" mandrel street rod exhaust kit, Walbro 255lph fuel pump, some AN fittings and hose. Also today i modded the fuel rail to fit the longer 42lb ford racing injectors. Was kinda a pita to do. Requires the intake manifold to be loosened enough so it can be slid about an inch back on the studs and even then its a tight sqeeze to set the fuel rail in place. The fuel inlet on the rail had to be heated up and bent to clear the manifold and it is still a very close fit. EDIT: just realized i left the tape on the schrader valve

Painted it metallic black and cleared it came out nice and left some chrome accents shown in the pics.

About a week ago i made a compressor outlet for the turbo (i know bad pic lol)

and since i had the turbo apart i figured id soda blast it and clean it up. Before & After pics:

Instead of polishing the compressor housing i have decided to leave it looking like a clean casting, atleast for now.
More updates to come when all my parts start getting here.

^ thanks man! Im hoping that my in car camera mount will fit on my new camera i got since i made it to fit my old one. But there will be some vids trust me lol.

Today i got all my stuff i ordered from Jegs ( exhaust piping, flex pipe, magnaflow hi-flow cat, AN fittings and line, exhaust flanges.)
Since the weather was nice today i went out and did all wiring needed to hook up my gauges and also hooked up the boost gauge. Im still waiting for a T fitting to put in the block before i can install the electric oil pressure sender under the hood but all of the wire is there and ready.
Another thing i did was relocate the 12v oulet into the glove box since clearly my homemade gauge panel required it to be moved.

there is plenty of space between the glove box door and dash for wires to go through and still be able to shut the glove box.
I also finished up my PCV outlet for the block

^I cut the oil splash gaurd off from the factory unit and welded it on my own flange to keep things a little cleaner.
Basically all that is left do to now is the tear down and put all my parts on. Tomorrow i plan on getting the downpipe welded up. Just gotta figure out where im parking my car at since it will be undrivable for a few days while i tear it apart.

Car is on ramps and i have been working between rainstorms as much as i can. Turbo is mounted, oil lines and coolant lines are attached. Still working on the exhaust and i need to do the plumbing for the intercooler. My hands have multiple scrapes, cuts and burns so its definitely coming along :D
Oh and i kinda upset one of the workers at advance auto when i went in to buy some hoses and serpentine belt lol. He insisted to know what i was building and apperently there is some kind of known law or somethign against putting a turbo on an escort that i wasn't aware of. stupid honda drivers..

I also upset one of those AA guys a few years ago. After buying some exhaust tubing he asked what I was doing, I told him I was putting a Magnaflow XL turbo muffler on my Escort. He was insistent that a muffler like that wasn't going to sound good on a 4 cylinder... He was wrong.

Alright so i got everything installed and ready to go except for the back half of the exhaust. The weather has been complete shit lately so its taken longer than expected and now i have to wait another week for my universal flexible radiator hose for the lower hose  I went to Advance auto thinking they could have it withen a day or two like most parts even though i knew it would cost more from them. And then after they ordered it they tell me its going to take 7 or 8 days to arrive which sucks. If it stops pouring rain tomorrow ill take some under the hood pics to post up but for now all i have are these.
Front mount installed. measurements are 27.5" x 7" x 2.5"

Downpipe and some charge pipes i had to make.

I may be able to jerry rig the lower rad hose just to get it running with all the parts and shit i have collected around here atleast for one short trip on easter. I have some family members that wanted to see it at our family gathering.

Oh and i almost forgot.. For all you people running walbro 255lph pumps how the hell do you get em to fit in the sending unit housing? Or are the pumps in the return style fuel systems different dimensions? I was told by a few people the walbro pumps were a direct fit, however it was clearly not even close on my 1998. I had do quite a bit of very careful trimming on both the new walbro 255 pump and the housing. I got it to fit in the housing but cutting up a brand new pump and housing was kind of disappointing :?
Anyways, im going to get my tune written up now so i can put it on the ecu
