I have the opportunity to get a complete wrecked 98 mystique with a v6/auto. Has anyone put a mystique/taurus v6 in their scort? What will I need to do this? Just trying to see what Im getting myself into before I go and tear the wifes car apart. Thanks guys!

mystiques have V6s in them?? :? I thought they were mechanically the same as Contours because the Merc version of the Taurus is the Sable.

Mercury=Ford
mystique=contour (2.0 I4?) (SVT Contour 2.5 V6)
sable=taurus (3.0 V6)(SHO Taurus 3.4 V8)

a few years ago somebody posted to one of the escort mail lists that they installed an early Taurus V6(I think it was an SHO) in a 1st gen GT.They claimed it fit in the engine compartment and they only had to trim a piece of sheetmetal because the crank pully would hit when the engine moved.

Who the person was and where they are now I have no idea but it might be something to look into

The SVT V6 is a modified form of the 2.5 Duratec V6 in the Contour LX/SE. The Mystique LS had the same V6 engine. The Mystique base and GS were handicapped with the 4 cyl Zetec, as were the Contour GL and some early SE's.

I was looking for a black Mystique LS but couldn't find one so settled on a burgundy GS with the 4 banger. Lovely to look at and quite comfortable inside, handled nicely. Unfortunately, that was a serious Mystake as the car suffered terrible reliability.
