Maybe the guy didn't get an allignment after the tie rods were replaced. I'm sure the shocks are worn too and I assuming it has 13 inch 70 series tires which don't help.

I have a CRX too and the Escort will never feel like a go cart. My LX is boring to drive but it has been a good reliable vehicle in the 8 years I have owned it.
