The ECU is sortof a subset of the whole electrical system of the EGT. In the wiring diagram, you won't see the individual circuits within the ECU, but you will rather see the ECU written as "solid state"...which basically translates into "too complicated to list here, and unnecessary information".

They figure it's cheaper and eaiser to replace the ECU itself rather than pull it apart and fix it.

However, you may want to look in the EVTM (electrical and vacuum tubing manual). This is apparently the most detailed electrical manual you can get for the escort. You can find them on ebay. I honestly don't know if it will list the wiring within the ECU.

Are you thinking of interfacing the ECU? That would be tight.

thanks a bunch i'll keep that in mind. electrical and vacuum tubing manual is the thing to buy if i decide to go all out. i really dont want to spend money and i think i'll just rewired a new ECU. I am swapping out my mazda SOHC for the ford DOHC (i'm in canada so there are very few BP05 engines up here.) Would anyone have the diagram i need so i can install the ford wiring harness?

Other way around.

The Ford SEFI is a SOHC engine

The Mazda BP is the DOHC engine

Looks like we have a starcraft player here :violent3:

well actually.... i have a ford engine that is a DOHC 1.8L and i have a mazda bp01 engine. the bp01 is the sohc brother of the bp05(1.8L DOHC mazda equlivalant of the EGT engine). I'm in canada we did not get the DOHC protege. now my current engine (sohc) is on it's last legs and i want to swap in the nicer ford escort gt engine(bp05 dohc). This swap is nice bacause teh engine mounts are the same.

but to do this i need the wiring diagram for the EGT ecu wiring harness. that way i dont, screw things up.

starcraft, red alert, war craft, i know i'm a geek.

BP05? I'm lost, I was always told the 91-96 GT DOHC engines were BPD8s, the 323 GTX engines were BPTs.

Red alert...yeah that game rules. I was in the top 100 in the world when I quit playing C&C Gold.

Nice wording with your name, i woulda never guessed that. What kind of Toyota and what year SS do you own? 8O

ok the head on the engine are coded. BP(1.8L) and 01(sohc) or 05(dohc)

"D8" denotes the whole engine. whatever close enough. The GTX engines have the BP26 cyl head aka BPT. abd the GTR has the BP32 head... i think.(?)

i owned a 91 celica All-trac, drove the crap out of it, ratbaged the car then sold it, but first i had sex in it. . Thankfully i only have a 5'4" frame. i want to own a 1969 camaro SS. A REAL classic. when i have the money to buy and rebuild one i will.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram i need?
