Hey...

Which wires going from the factory amp go to pos and neg respectively, for the front 6.5s only?

I.E: driver's side neg black, driver's side pos red, etc...

Just need those 4 wires. Not running a rear stage, and i'm installing the new HU and amp tonite.

Thanks!

If you're installing an aftermarket head unit, its internal amp is going to be better than the factory "premium sound" amp.

Right....

That's why i'm asking what color wires go FROM the factory amp to the front speakers, and the polarity.

I'd rather splice my speaker wires from my aftermarket Kenwood amp into the existing wiring than take the door panels off. AGAIN.

The factory amp has a bad right channel, and needs to go away anyways so i can finish the protege console swap. So i'm putting in a Kenwood HU, and a Kenwood amp, to go with the Kicker 6.5s already installed.

Actually, i lied.... i need the following wire colors:

Ground
Power
Remote
Driver's positive (front)
Driver's negative (front)
Passenger's positive (front)
Passenger's negative (front)

if teh factory amp has a bad right channel why not bypass all the stock wiring and rewire the doors with some nice 16 or 14 gauge. its has a higher strand count then the stock 20ga.

Uh. Now this is confusing. If you just remove the amp, it's behind the center console. You're left with plugs that will go into the stock head unit. go to walmart and buy a harness adapter so you don't have to cut into the stock wiring.

Well, if i can't get my answer or find my answer, that's what i'll do. I'm just trying to avoid taking the door panels off again, because i always break half the pop rivets. ;)

I have the harness adapter.... i only need to splice into ground, power, and remote from the harness adapter. I'm not running the speakers off the head unit.

I'm running the head unit off the ground, power, and remote. Then running RCAs to the Kenwood amp. Then i wanted to splice into the harness going FROM the stock amp (which will be removed) to the front speakers.

Then when i re-do the door panels with the new color scheme, i'd re-run some higher gauge wire. I don't feel like messing with door panels or spade connectors today. I've already got the new speakers installed, and it wasn't all that fun.

So basically, it's a REALLY simple setup.

From factory harness into back of radio, splice power, ground, and remote into the new Kenwood HU with the conversion harness. From the kenwood, run rcas to the kenwood amp. From the kenwood amp, splice into the 4 existing front speaker wires.

So i still need the colors for those 7 wires:

Power
Ground
Remote
Right pos
Right neg
Left pos
Left neg

I can't seem to find them online, and tracing them means taking off the door panels anyways.

I made a post ages ago when I redid the speakers in my wagon with speaker wire colors. I'll see if I can find it.

MEM - Green/Yellow
ACC - Yellow/Black
GND - Black

+RF - White/Green
-RF - Black/White

+LF - Orange/Green
-LF - Black/White

+RR - Pink/Blue
-RR - Green/Orange

+LR - Pink Green
-LR - Pink/Blue

Seems like it's just a generic ford coloring diagram, they are probably all the same though.

MEM is memory. Constant 12V supplied. usually a yellow wire on aftermarket stereos

I don't have at least half of those wires.... Ugh.

I don't have a green/yellow, or a yellow/black, to start with....

OOOOohhhhhhh close. Doesn't have the actual labeled wiring within the premium sound system, though. I've got it all figured out except for the red and yellow wires off the kenwood harness.

Red is ignition off the kenwood harness, what should i put that into?

Yellow is "battery," what should i put that into?

Anyone done this before that i could call?

red is switched power. yellow is constant power. if you don't hook up the yellow to a constant power source, that means even has power when the key is off, you will never have radio presets

Ehhhh.... i got it all now. The premium wiring shares almost nothing with the regular stuff.

Kenwood to stock harness:

Red - Red/black
Yellow - Dark blue/black
Black - Yellow
LF pos - purple
RF pos - dark blue/white
LR pos - white/dark blue
RR pos - white/dark green
LF neg - dark blue/orange
RF neg - white
LR neg - red/dark blue
RR neg - dark blue

Someone sticky this so everyone else with premium doesn't have to go through this. :D

Actually... update.

That setup wouldn't kick the headunit completely on.

I ended up running the red and yellow wires from the kenwood harness BOTH into the dark blue/black.

Which.... logic says wouldn't work. But it does.

The HU kicks on, plays, and shuts off with the ignition. I still have memory as well. Doesn't make a ton of sense, but i'm going with it.

That was a HUGE clusterfuck. Why is 8 miles of wiring needed for a crappy stock radio and a crappy amplifier? Let alone the 27 plugs that go to an from everything.

I still haven't figured out how to run it all without the factory amp. I'm not USING the amp to power the speakers, but it seems in order to get power, you have to pass through the plugs going to and from the factory amp.

Will work on it more tonite and report back with full wiring details and how to remove amp completely. :)
