Hey all, long time lurker, not much of a poster.

I just "inherited" my girlfriend's 93 LX and am wondering what to do with it. This car puts my number of cars owned at 3, and I already have a 97 Escort Sport, so I'd like to keep my car number at 2. Part out isn't an option due to renting and not owning where I live.

Anywho, I've never dealt with a salvage yard or other similar service before and am sure some of you have. Do you get a decent chunk of change (~$300) or am I looking at a $50?

The car runs, but would probably need some work to get legal inspection and emissions in PA. What do people usually pay for their part's cars?

You will probably get more selling it outright these days. You could probably get $250-$300 for a running driving car at least. If you can get it to the point of passing inspection then your looking at even more money. I think most yards pay by weight so the lighter the car the less you get. Back when steel prices were so high my friend got $600 for his Chrysler Concord at a scrap metal place. The car had some junk in it to so he probably would have got less for just the car. Nowadays though you would probably get alot less.

I hadn't thought of Craigslist, that's a good idea. I was also thinking of posting in the Sale/Trade section, but I'm not at the 10 posts or above limit for posting an item there.

Gonna go check out Craigslist. Thanks all.
