Ok I just got my escort and it's running rough, on some days the car drives like a bat outa hell but other days i feel like I'm driving miss daisie , when I start the car and rev it up it putters and vibrates a litte from 500 to about 1700 rpm in nuetral and then after that is fine but when I'm just idling at a stop light or something like that the car will idle at 500 rpm and lower and start shaking and vibrating really bad and almost die, if any one has any info plz email me preferably or post either is cool thanks for any help u can give me

Check for any intake leaks. The intake pipe is crone to cracking and separating where it accordions.

Also, check the pcv valve on the valve cover it could be bad and it will make the car idle wacky.

it COULD also be a sticky IAC valve, little cleaner down there let it sit start it up there clean, but my money is on the split intake tube at the accordion part.

you'll get her figured out between PCV valve or intake tube split check those first, if that isn't it try some carb cleaner on the IAC.

IAC is in the throttle body right? i think i need to do this to mine, sometimes the idle will dip to 400 and then go back up to normal.
    no vacuum leaks.

Well I feel like an idiot I was looking at the intake hose and all underneath there is ducktape all underneath it so I'm taking it ther is either splits or cracks cause it's pretty thick on the ductape so Ty all on that info I'm still gonna check that valve, and on that IAC I'll check that on my day off

ok for sure intake tube split cool, just wrap it in more duct tape for a temporary fix and enjoy her! good opprotunity to upgrade to a nice metal cold air intake or something! ;)

the IAC is on the bottom of the TB and has the hose coming from the black box to it, idk why it's gotta be an external IAC and not incorporated in the TB but yeah it's easy to clean at least! take tube off, shoot some carb cleaner in there cuz it's got a mild lubricant in it reconnect the black hose and start it up so it sucks the cleaner through it and cleans it and lubes it good

glad you found your issue! :D

and my car also does the down to 500 rpm then up to 800 idle if you wanna stop that you gotta play with the throttle body air bypass screw, I had mine perfect once but upgraded to the 4 wire TPS auto TB and never bothered to get it perfect, out too far and it constantly idles high too low and it lugs out so I just put it all the way in and let the IAC regulate idle.

cut intake manifold mod, 4 wire TPS, kia fuel injectors, modify your exhaust and punch it out to at least 2 inch but no bigger than 2 1/4 for N/A, upgrade to the B code or K code VAF, get a cone filter, she'll purrr then!

Ok first off Ty all for the info the car is running like a beast it's never sounded better and it's fast that's all there is that can be said is that car is insanly fast for no after market parts but..... I got a new problem now... I have noticed for a while that the car had been lagging in geting into gear and stuff likethat and Noe tonight I was driving on the highway I was losing power and by the time it got really bad I was in 5th gear and only doing 35 mph and it was trying to go up to 7k on the rpm .. And then it lost all power and I had to coast off the highway .. The engine it's self is fine and the timing belt and all that is fine but the car won't move i would but it into gear and it would continue to roll down the hill and stuff like that(and earlyer in the day I had noticed it would go way up in the rpm an then drop down and I smelt a rubber or plastic burning smell) if anyone has any info to help me out that would be awsome and Ty again for every one that helped on the engine getting it fixed before

Sounds like you smoked your clutch, time for a new kit. It'd be a good time to take care of the rear main seal, you don't want an oil leak near the clutch.
