my scort has a 5 speed trans in it and i need two know some info on putting a 91 motor in it any info on this change would be greatly appritated and thanks for a kick ass site

Umm doing that would be stupid. You might as well go buy a 91. Because you have an 88 Escort, youll need the 1.9 CFI, or the 1.9 HO. and thats about all you can do with that. The trans really dont matter. But the motors are cheap, hell ill sell you one for 100, but you need to pull it yourself. Its a good running motor. Oh well any other questions lemme know.

What parts are you looking at that you want to put on your 88? If you really want a 91 motor in it your looking at some serious work ahead of you. You'll not only just need to motor but the ECU, wiring, fuel components, and some other misc. parts.

ok well what is out there for my 88 such as ....

cam
headers
turbo headers
valves
rockers
pistons
rods
that kind of stuff i am looking for and please post links i am new to scorts and i have done some searching but with not much help

Cams: Crane made 3 different cams for the 1.9L If you can't find the true Crane cam you can get a rebagged Crane cam from EFP.

Headers: Take the header off a 87-90 Escort GT with the 1.9L H.O. motor

Turbo Headers: Get an EXP mani from a 84-85.5 Escort GT/EXP, an RS mani from Europe, or a custom header from JGS.

Valves: Just get a 87-90 Escort GT H.O. head and swap on. Bigger valves and a slightly hotter cam.

Pistons: 87-90 Escort GT H.O. pistons or custom ones from an aftermarket manufacturer. (aftermarket will cost a pretty penny)

Rods: custom aftermarket rods from an aftermarket manufacturer. (pricey)
