Alright guys so get this, I don’t fully understand cam shaft specs yet so some info would help. So my goal is simply 150-180whp as of right now I’m going to be a rebuilt stock bottom end, with a turbo 8psi. Here is the regrind specs crane cam has suggested. This is where I’m asking for helpful input.

nevermind... I just fully read the email and apparently I’m not allowed to copy and paste any of the specs

with all that said. I’ll just be sending out the cam and hope for the best. I’ll be updating Sunday with photos of all the parts going in. And once the block is done @ the shop I’ll be posting pics. Here’s a question... what size tubing should my intercooler be?

I got a cam from crane not long ago and the emails I got from them said nothing about posting the cam cards anywhere. I still have the cam cards, witch grind did you go with?

    EDIT:
Make sure you can get springs for the cam grind you picked.

That is a run of the mill disclosure signature. Cam cards and specs are not what I would call a trade secret. I mean how do you tell you shop what the cam specs are if you need work done to a head to use it if your not allowed to share it? And they put most of the info from the cam card in their sales catalog too...

Regardless I have all the cam cards for the roller cam grinds. What grind are you getting? And what don't you understand?

I went with REGRIND03274, witch I regret in part as finding springs for it has been tricky.
I would go with REGRIND01769 knowing what I know now.

    They suggested regrind 01863
However springs are not easily accessible
99884-8 is the part number... I’m playing like heck finding them, I think I got it but I emailed the company for verification. Haven’t heard back yet.

Everywhere online that I found with the springs listed didn't have them in stock and dropped shipped them from crane.
If you find a place that has them let me know asap.

Let me look at that cam card too. I think that's one of the high lift tribo cams with around .500 degrees of lift. Both finding springs and tuneing the ECU coild get tricky. A simple VAM adjustment might not cut it. But luckily the same software that tubes foxbody ECUs works with the 1.9l HO and xr4ti ECUs

I believe the cam you went with was the most aggressive cam crane can do on that motor. At that lift I be worried about valve clearance. I would make sure you don't need to cut reliefs in the pistons.

Yep that’s the same card they sent me, with that said, assuming I can find usable springs for this cam profile, would pistons from an 89 LX be a solution for that right valve clearance? Also if I can’t source a set of springs, what would be a usable cam grind that would work with available springs still in production?

The LX pistons would lower compression way to much to be usable. I would get reliefs cut into the HO pistons if there is a clearance problem.

As far as I know there is no drop in valve spring that will work with Crane's grinds without some head work. The piper VSSCVH spring might work for the REGRIND01769 and REGRIND03274 with the right locators. But valve trains are not my strong suit.
I'm taking my head to a local shop and letting them deal with it and would suggest the same to you.

Now I’m confused with the lifters, I’m pretty sure they’re roller but why does the packaging say tappet?

It's a roller tappet. Are they HO lifters? The CFIs used a lifter with less lift capabilitie.

The ECU you have is form a auto xr3ti? Is your escort a auto? If not you might get a error code on the ecu. But it should work regardless.

    Edit.
    Should be the right lifters.

I believe it was 1lowscort who said it would work. Which is why I didn’t worry with the “auto” written on the listing. As far as my GT being an auto? I never knew of a GT being auto. And I think anyone who’d swap in an auto would be crazy. I have no idea if they’re HO lifters. You know how those eBay listings goes... but here’s how much $ I have in so far
    Rockers- $375.99
    Brwn injectors- $110.00
    Lifters- $39.95
    Xr4ti Pcm- $60
    Xr4ti Vam $27.50
    Turbo/manifold- ??? I’ve have for almost a decade I forget what I paid

I looked up the lifters and most places list it as ether being a GT lifter or later 1.9l lifter. So you should be good. If you want to make sure check how much the little tapet part extends out of the lifter and I'll compare it to my lifters.

    Edit:
A few dealers sold GTs with a auto trans.

HO should be about 4.9mm to 5mm. CFI is about 4.5mm. I can't quite tell from the photo the size. But it looks like 5mm.

Guys!!! Darn it!?!?!? Ok so check this out! My grandfather has owned a cabin in the woods since 92’ it’s 112 miles north of where I live. My pap, his 6 kids, and their 14 kids (me, and my cousins) use to go up every summer for 7-9days. It’s 1.5 acres and it’s an old school cabin, (no electric/no running water) he just offered it to me for a price I can’t beat!!! Man!?!? I really don’t want to put this build on the back burner but this cabin needs some love, I gotta cut down trees, and knock down some seriously y’all grass and find out what it’ll cost to install electric... I’m gonna be sparse over the weekend but I’ll keep you guys posted as to what I’m gonna do, finish the build or invest time/money in the family cabin

Alright so I’m buying the cabin guys!!! This is gonna be tough! I’m gonna be wearing myself thin, but the key here is to try knocking out as much as I can @ the cabin before the weather gets cold. I’ll get into that later but this is an Escort forum so let’s get back to the drawing board for the moment. I’ve been looking at struts and springs and I’m gonna assume KYB is the best I’m gonna find “easily” ? Is there a particular part number I should be after? How about springs? Moog? I see different part numbers for those too!? Is there a specific set I’m gonna want? My goal is to replace the entire suspension while the motor is out and being redone. If I can replace as many bushings as possible too. Part numbers would be greatly appreciated... Just realized something... why isn’t there a sticky for 1g escorts suspensions? And a list of part numbers or cars worth snatching parts from specifically pertaining to suspension?
