Bad idea? Maybe.
But will it work? The 50 shot was addictive.. I'm ready to go on a nitrous binge till I (or my motor) just about OD!

I'm looking for a way to up my fuel quality before I go to the track this weekend, but the only place I can fine 100 octane or better is there. What do you guys think of those octane boosters at the auto parts stores? I read some where of using some sort of thinner available at paint supply stores to boost octane ratings substantially.

any ideas, suggestions?

thanks

Do you have colder plugs yet?
75 shot might over do it and cause deto, with turbo's you can gradually build boost and back off if you here ping, with N20 it might not be that easy. I'm not sure about those little bottles of octane booster. If you can supply the fuel, it might work.
Can you start with a exstra large fuel jet?

Yup, NGK TR5's (2238).

I'm actually running a slightly larger fuel jet with the 50 (ish) shot, I'll probably do the same if I go to the larger shot in an attempt to play it safe.

I really need to find out what that stuff that you can buy at Sherwin Williams is.. I'm not sure if it's petroleum or alcohol based, but I hear it's extremely effective. Just need to remember which of the 50 forums I'm subscribed to had that info posted, lol

gap your plugs really tight so the shot doesnt blow out the plugs. According to your sig, if your running it on the old 5.0L, some people have run 100+ shots on the stock block with a few det-free mods.

As long as your spraying the right mixture, it all comes down to what sort of compression the engine can handle, and the 5.0L's are pretty strong f*cking blocks. Good luck!

Edit * ok not the 5.0L block......onyl way to find out is try it....I say go for it, an N/A 15sec tracer wagon would be sick :p

octane boosters you buy in stores, if you read them, only boost the octane rating by 0.1 points. for example, you buy 93 octane gas, with octane booster you would end up with 93.1 octane gas. check out the small print on those bottles. they are really selling absolute crap.

Why don't you try adding a water/alcohol injection system to the setup. The water help lower the intake air temperature, thus preventing detenations,
The N2o being sprayed is allready much colder than the water injection, so the benifits are'nt that great. Water injection is more for superchargers or non-intercooled turbo systems.

Is there a way to add alcohol to your fuel?

Would adding small amount of kerosene reduce predet or would that just muck up your O2 sensor and throw everything off?

hows your weight reduction when youre racing? Do you have about a gallon of fuel in the tank or is it full? Spare tire?
