since the 96 is based off the 3rd gen, Does anyone know which wire the tach runs off, will apriciated greatly

I dbl checked the wire - light green/ red stripe

erg well i guess its not the same as 3rd gen no light green with red stripe , I did take out my gauge faces and i see 2 solid green wires, one is light green and the other is dark . i might have to take a chance on them sometime

on a 94, it's the Yellow/Dark Blue wire that sends the Tachometer input. I know that it's the same in at least 2 other years, but not sure about 96

96 is not biased off the 3rd gen. If a 2nd gen doesn't come with a tach cluster then the wire probably won't be at the cluster. You will have to get it directly from the computer.

It does have a tach but i need a tach signal for my megasquirt.

There are 2 yellow blue wires But i can try both of them. one is on one set of wires for the cluster and the other ones are on another set.

Woh, woh, woh. When you install megasquirt you remove the old computer, right? If so what use is getting a tach signal from the stock wiring that comes from the old computer which is going to be gone?
