Alright what all has anyone done for performance mods on the 3rd Gen? Looking for some good ideas, I think the 1.8 in my 94 is a better platform but it seems a little easier to find stuff for my ’02 ZX2. Bring on the ideas. And while we are at it, lets try not to be generic about this telling someone intake/exhaust/hi flow filter… doesn’t help. I am looking for feedback on things that you have actually done and lived with on a daily basis. :-D

I think that a good intake is the weapons-r intake. I had one on my 93 and it was great. I know importstudio.com has one for the ZX2. I have an Lx and still looking for mods for the 2.0Spi. I also know that magnaflow Exhaust makes a real nice sound on the escort and opens up the air flow with the Weapons-R intake. Again this is stuff that I know from my 93 but I´m looking at doing it to my 98 in the furture. Well I hope that this helps a little. Good Luck

Thanks! I have already replaced the intake with one from Iceman, if your interested I posted a review. Exhaust is on my list next because it is cheap and easy to do. Anyone out there got any ideas for a good header?

Well as for the ice man intake what was the price for it and how hard was it to install? Also did everything match up good or did you have to modify any? Also did your car run smother with the new intake? I know my car is running rough so I´m getting ready to have the timeing checked and timing belt changed.

The Iceman cost me around $150.00 I think. Perfect bolt on and no modification needed. Yes it is much smoother. Just make sure you push the intake as far onto the throttle body as you can or it will rub the hood when you really slam the throttle. I learned that real quick. I think I will probably put some exhaust on it next. Rear disc brakes will be along at some point in it’s life.
