You can get it for $20 when you purchased a head unit from Crutchfield. They usually give free shipping on orders over a certain amount. The adapter by itself can be purchased, but will cost another $20 more.

the only reason it wouldn't work is if your car has premium sound and the radio listed is for non-premium sound.

I went to Crutchfield's website and entered your car's info with the premium sound system. I see how this is confusing. Before you clicked the item on the main page, it states it will fit your ZX2. However, after clicking it, it says it will not fit. It does state it will fit 97-up Escorts with premium sound systems. My only suggestion is to call Crutchfield and ask them directly. Unless Metro has changed something with the kit, it should fit with no problem. The only difference would be the wiring to use the factory amplifier. If you can't call them, use their online chat. I have used their chat before and it works great. Keep us posted on what you find out.

No problem Fire. I'm glad you was able to find what you were looking for. Thanks for the new link for the premium sound system adapter kit. I'm sure there will be others who will have the same problem in the future. Keep us posted on how your install goes. :D

    dash clip not holding

I'm not sure why, but when I installed my HU in my dash with the kit, the metal clips from the stock stereo aren't holding on the driver's side of the new dash kit, so I'm always having to push it back in so it's flush...anybody else had this problem, and how do I fix it?

You may be pushing against the wiring. I always try tucking the wiring in different spots until I find the spot that will allow the HU to sit correctly.

Awesome. Thanks, Dave. I'll play with that later on tonight or tomorrow and let you know what I can figure out by playing with where those wires sit. Gotta do an oil change tomorrow anyway, so Lucy's gonna get a lot of attention coming up (also putting summer wheels on as soon as I get new rubber for 'em).
