YESSSSSSS!!!! fabricating at it's FINEST! great job man that looks good! lots of time and work went into that, what like 3 hours or so? for me I take my time so it'd be all day ha ha, lookin good!

I have a 3.8 TB I messed with, I just made a bracket that bolted to the firewall and lengthened the TPS wires, but if you can mod out the TB instead, ;) nice!

you indeed have done something no one has done of that I have ever heard!

I think my header I made for my GT last night is the first of it's kind :D w00t drove it around more today and oh man, driving her normal is fun! sounds so good nice and deep pops and just everything is better with a header! oh yes!

next, WINDOW TINT, 35% all the way around cept the windshield duh :p anything darker than 35% is just too dark for my liking anywayz!

yeah and after installing factory cruise why get rid of it, that'd be stupid! man that wagon is pretty sweet.

and go figure stupid focus has the right engine parts! I'll bet that HO TB will really be good on an SPI, on a regular 1.9, forget about it you have more low end power but high end power is terrible!

I opened the GT up getting on the freeway and in 3rd gear going from 60 to 70 before it'd choke up at 65 and you'd have to shift to 4th or just half throttle 3rd, I kept it opened up and she hit 70 and wanted to go faster but I figured I don't need a ticket ;) but I coulda hit 90 pretty easy I'll bet! better flow is GOOD! you'll be real happy with that HO TB I'm sure! :D you got a good header on her too?

ok sweet on the HO header, and just relocate the cat anyway :p cut cut weld weld done! :D my exhaust is so not stock anymore ha ha.

I'ma whore this pic out again CHECK IT WOOPA!!!!

yeah that aint stock anymore ha ha. and nice on the neon exhaust and you can't go wrong for 7 bucks! mandrel bent even! BONUS!

that header was off a kia version BP it's called the KAsomething idk, but it wasn't a direct bolt on the flange was all different so I cut the flange off and made that 2.5 inch down pipe fit then made my oxy bung in there tapped the threads out good and just welded it all to the cat which bolts up to the pipe that goes to the muffler in the back, I love it dude the sound is ... OOOOF. so not a direct bolt on there, and idk if proteges have headers I've looked and they have the same goofy exhaust manifold that weighs a ton unless some squeeked in and I didn't look under the heat shield to see pipes. I'll have to pull a protege heat shield off next time I'm there! and it prolly is a direct bolt on for EGT's, but mine's speshal lol!

anyway Matt nice work on that TB!! hope it works good for you!

you know what works really good to shave those ridges off? an old bench grinder in your buddy's garage ha ha, tis what I used when I did my 3.8 TB, took me about 2 minutes to get the stock hose to fit on there. :D course if you don't have a buddy with a nice 6 inch bench grinder you gonna have to figure out how to make that tiny dremel do all that work lol. how good do those high speed cutters work? I tried a small 1/8th shaft one and it didn't last very long lol. that's when I did my aluminum head port/polish, I went through 20 grinding stones and 3 days to do that job, twas insane.

lookin good though! craftsmanship at it's finest!!!

ok I'll have to find a 1/4 inch high speed cutter for my MISC things ;)

4 inch bench grinder should work just take a little more time than a 6 inch. a guy gave me the dual 6 incher free cuz he had another one laying around :D I've used it a lot, and my 4.5 inch angle grinder/cut off wheel OOOF it's a beast! forget air cut off wheels 4.5 inch electric FTW! exhaust pipe goes like butter. harbor freight like 20 for a 4.5 inch angle grinder! well worth the investment!

man that stinks thats a lot of work man.

but think, it WILL WORK! I have the same issues I put a ton of work into something and what happens, it breaks, or it doesn't work, but then again my car is still running and driving great so I must be doing something right ha ha, the 1.9 LX was a failure with the engine but that's not a huge deal to rebuild the rings and reseat the valves to make it run good again!

so it'll work, and as for the little welding splatter I wouldn't worry TOO much about it, as long as the rubber O ring seals are good and bears smooth it should be ok, if not I'll ship you my 3.8 TB that's already been ground for the intake hose you'd just need to make it to the other side again, but it's in pretty good shape.

lemme know if you need it

and keep on moddin you got skillz. oh and btw that header I made for my EGT, WOW it's so stinking nice! half throttle is like what full used to be ha ha. much better air flow.

keep em turning!

YESSSSSSS! that is SEXY DUDE! so it really does pull harder and has more power in the upper end?

that is some good work Matt!

when I did that swap I noticed more torque in the mid range but the same low end and high end power, course I didn't do it all right like you did.

very very nice work!!! did that bench grinder work is that what you used to grind the ridges off?

yeah I knew it had something to do with fuel cuz my A/F gauge I had hooked up would read leanish above 4500 rpm or so, at 6 grand it was in the red part of lean lol.

yeah well that's awesome it worked for you, see I knew I was missing something, if it were carburated it woulda been a screamer I'll bet.

that's good though an estimated 5 to 7 HP, that's an INCREASE worth bragging about with a home made TB swap!

yeah prolly just tired the old demel out ha ha, I love my 20 dollar harbor freight one! it's the red 4 speed one, works like a charm all the time, gets really hot after about 10 minutes on high though lol, so I rigged a hole in it so blow compressed air in while it runs :p because sabes que it takes forever to port and polish with a 1/8th inch shank!

that's amazing the bit held up so long though and still seems good eh? that's good! I should pick up a 1/4 inch shank one for my air die grinder!

anyway good work looks like it really paid off for you very nice.

and that whole project cost you what, 30 dollars or so? and a good amount of time, but it's worth it!

just like my window tint, almost done with all of it and it looks very good for me being a first timer at tint :D

later on Matt!

btw I wanna hear gas mileage #'s when you get em! you know what it was about before?

ummm, juggalo pretty much if you want a header on a 1.9 you have to relocate the cat. there is the focus shorty exceptions but pretty much header on 1.9 = break out the cut off wheel and welder boys.

you know the more I look at a 1.9 the more I think they wanted it to be a restricted slow engine :\ the cat being right there, poor flowing head, small TB and MAF housing. meh idk.

but still that's some awesome work Matt looking over all the pics again, it's beastly!

juggalo I have the firewall mounted throttle cable bracket for the 3.8 swap, lemme know if you need it I still got it intact worked good.

yeah to get a header gonna have to move that cat which is not hard to do with some harbor freight tools.

yeah I have to agree with Matt here like I said the best swap you can do is a manual swap cuz escort auto's are not the best they suck up tons of your HP and they are pretty weak. if you don't push it to the limits all the time it might be ok but if you wanna up the power a lot that trans won't take it for long. I just know the 5 speeds are the way to go if you want a fun, economical scort. and yeah the manuals get at least 5 mpg better, I can get 40 mpg in my LX 1.9 if I really drive her easy and more if I did a few more mods.

idk juggalo I think your best bet is to just make the scort a regular daily driver and fix your honda to be the fast one. idk dude

dude juggalo... ok not slamming but we threw good ideas out at you and you turned all of them down, k? we tried to help you out (mostly Matt) and I read all the posts and you just chose to ignore the GOOD advice that everyone here has to offer.

I met you face to face and thought you'd take my advice on the manual swap I'm not trying to bully you around, we all are just trying to help you out, I know a lady that has 150k on her 93 escort auto and it's on the last legs, it'll just slip like crazy off the line and I've done my best to keep it going and it's barely limping right now.

most everyone on here is running a 5 speed manual and doing all these performance upgrades and seeing good results in the manuals, that's just what works good. and it's amazing the gas mileage difference at times it is 10mpg more.

I did PM Matt and tell him that you were very set in your ways and didn't listen much to the advice we had given you dude, we just tried to help out.

and my last point is you're lucky that we did help you because all the info was out there if you searched around you'd of found it, but we just went ahead and told you anywayz. if you don't like the way we try to help you then I guess leave?

idk but I'ma go finish putting my engine back together finally got the #2 rod out, and boy it was bent! I'll put pics on the photo section later tonight! think I'll finally start my own thread lol.

OK Matt how's that 3.8 TB working for you dude?! :D

no doubt I can get rattled up too, but I actually listen to advice and may not take it but I consider it. like Silverton was the one that suguested that my car might have a bent rod if the compression was low and I had taken the head off and #2 didn't come all the way up, hey guess what he was dead on right! the car still was fast and ran good just shook a little at idle. now it should be better though it's almost back together in one day :D I getting good at engine work!

but yeah anyway people need to not take stuff so personally here. either take or leave the advice given and quit asking the same stuff. I guess IDK tho

yeah them lifters like to tick I noticed my 1.9 would tick on the short grocery runs from time to time, drive it good and long and it wouldn't after a while, seems to not like the short stop and go style from one place to another and shut it off and restart in 30 minutes then shut off then drive again. that's why I love the EGT 1.8 I heard it lifter tap once, that's cuz it wasn't started for 4 months :p. you might wanna try like a good cleaner in your oil? sea foam it or something :D I'ma sea foam my car after I get it running good and get it all nice and clean!

lol yup that's the same die grinder I gots from harbor freight I love the 20% off coupons I have one right now too!! :D just nothing I need/want right now, ok stuff I want yes, need no.

best of luck getting it all good and done, you still liking the results of the bigger TB?

meh bent rod= a little time and a little money, I literally have spent 50 bucks to fix this rod dude, head gasket kit from am-autoparts.com and pull a part connecting rod free, comes with piston so I took the piston off and took it back ;)

I don't even care I had a bent rod I drove the car since I got it like that and it just was bugging me not being able to OPEN it up so I fix it! other than that she runs great and will run better tomorrow when I fire it up!!! :D I think the guy before me told me the timing belt went on him when he was driving, so I'm pretty sure it had enough carbon build up to bend the rod some but didn't harm the valves that's what I don't get with that theory, OR the theory of I used a little hot water to steam clean it when it was running and it may of pooled up in the intake and sucked it all in at once? idk I let it just sip water to clean it out not poured it in. idk how it got bent but I know it was bent like a banana.

wow your wagon is YOUNG! and I need a MIG cart ha ha, my flux core welder needs to look PRO.

yeah with the bigger TB when I did it I just tapped my gas to take off around town and a little more than big toed it to get on the freeway, but once cruising on the freeway it'd lean WAY out and I'd have to half throttle it to do 60, yeah not good so I took that off and put it all back to stock including the bigger MAF housing.

now my EGT, I just tap the gas and I'm gone ha ha, 1/4 throttle is enough to give a ricer a little taste then they go all out you do 1/2 throttle and beat em! oh YES!

yeah I can't wait to get my car running tomorrow and see how she runs!

yeah I'd think gas mileage will be rounds the same with it if you just be tame but drive it hard and it'll go down a bit more than before.

man really only 57k miles, wow mine has around 180k, odometer was replaced it's a canadian car ha ha, the guy said he drove it quite a lot and changed the oil every 3k miles, that I believe only a TINY bit of sludge in the oil pan, that was IT :D but he never changed the P/S fluid, trans fluid, nothing, it needed WORK when I got her. I still need new rear brakes ha ha.

keep it rolling Matt, I'll be rollin tomorrow after the surgery of the banana connecting rod ha ha!

yeah my 1.9 scort sounds like a WRX when I floor it with that cut intake air box with a K&N filter in it, sounds awesome, the 1.9's sound really good, but I love the reliability and power of the 1.8, never had a valve tick in it ever :D :)

that's good you got your lifters solved though Matt! good to hear! cranked my 1.9 over the other day and those lifters just CRIED for about 5 seconds, "and then arose such a clatter" ha ha.

yeah I noticed the between shift rev a little too, push in the clutch and it goes up a few rpm hangs then comes down, which is just odd. prolly the IAC trying to "help" with shifts idk.

glad the TB swap was a total success for you man! glad to hear it, see I didn't port my intake ALL the way, that was prolly my problem...

yeah I'm sure if you put your foot on it just right it'll run a tad leaner. I put an A/F gauge on my 1.9 with it all stock and on the freeway when you get to your cruising speed it'll snap into a lean loop and run pretty lean, put your foot in it too much it'll kick back to cycling and take your foot off too much and it'll cycle again, take your foot off and put it back on and it cycles till it finds the lean again. cheap 30 dollar autozone A/F gauge will help with fuel economy too! now the 1.8 GT's with the 1 wire oxy sensor won't do the lean on the freeway it just cycles the whole time, so you can just adjust the vaf to run a bit leaner which works wonders!

good stuff we can all find out from each others experiences! w00t yeah I shot for 40 mpg outta a stock 1.9 and touched it once with no mods just driving like grandma X10 so I figured that wasn't too bad kinda cool.
