    have fun trying to shoe horn it in there! there would be tons of custom fabrication involved.

    I'm not sure it'd fit without customizing (aka cutting the crap out of) your firewall.

    well whats the easiest v6 to drop in? I want a good v6 that has a good possibility for upgrades in the future.

    I've never heard of one "dropping in" but the best bet is to go with the Probe GT or MX3's KLZE V6. It still requires a lot of work, but if you want a 6-cylinder Scort that's probably your best bet. I think that's a 2.3 L if I'm not mistaken.

    edit: I was mistaken :roll: that's the 2.5 L that James mentioned also, posted this right after him. yeah I should try not to think about engine sizes when I'm tired...

    Yeah the KLZE V6 is a JDM motor, the V6 you're thinking about is the USDM KL03 in the probe and mx6.

    that's right now that I'm all rested I realize how dumb that was. But hey, if you want a V6 I'd say go for the KLZE (~200 HP), if you can't get that then the KL03 will do you fine. There are plenty of things out there for the Probe to my knowledge, after all, it did almost replace the Mustang.

    Really? Jeff, how do you know all this stuff? like, the double valvesprings from the 2.3 fit a 1.9. And please, tell more on that swap.

    if your going to go thru the bitch of swaping in a 3.0, either do the 3.8 or say F! it and drop a 302 or a 427 into it.

    It's not that hard, it pretty much is a bolt in, for a 1G anyways. But for a 2g, yeah wate of time. Too much work for a heavy 145hp.

    Not really, that engine bay was actully ment to fit a V6 (well so was the 2nd gen with the KL's). The 1G Escort and the Tempo share the same engine bay, I have seen 1.9 HO's in a Tempo (not stock). The Tempo came stock with the 3.0 V6 option.
    I have also seen 2.3t in both the Tempo and 1g Escort.
    So what ever bolt in the one, can bolt in the other.
    Note: the 2.3t is'nt a direct fit because it was never intended to be FWD.

    if u are going to do the v6 swap i would go with the klze swap but only the jdm swap from japan it makes 235 hp cuz the one from japan has bigger ports and bigger t/b also not to mention the enging is also balanced better for those quick fast revs

    The KLZE makes 197 hp... not 235. KLZE is only a JDM motor, the USDM version is the KL-03, it doesn't make as much power so it really wouldn't be worth it.

    simple answer I may be off by a few HP but here!

    MX3 GS 1.8L V6 = 130 HP pointless if you ask me if you already have a GT but this engine is the smallest V6 ever produced and it lasts forever! some custom fab required

    Probe/MX6 2.5L V6 = 167HP a little more custom fab required

    1.8L 4cyl BPT JDM Engine = 180HP drops into a GT like a normal BP!

    2.5L KLZE JDM Engine = 200HP the most custom fab required

    by custrom fab I mean to make it fit ( and yes it has been done on all these engines to be put into an escort) I also mean finding the harness, tranny and ECU to go along with it! oh and there are only a few ways to tell which engine is which so make sure you dont get fucked like some ppl have! but all in all have fun!
