question . Does the spoiler on 2nd gen 94 up escorts have a downward curve from the pedestal to the outside mounts? I have a nice 2nd gen spoiler that I want to put on my car but in test fitting it I found the outside mounts were way up off of the body . I`m wondering is this a function of the spoiler being forced into a slight curve or just the styling of my car . or could it be a function of both ? any help is appreciated.

I don´t know about way off but when when the cop broke the retainers that hold the ends down, mine sit up about a half inch. wound up just using JB weld to glue the sucker down.

my ´93 lx stock spoiler curves down from the middle. i´m quite sure it´s the same spoiler for the lx´s for the entire 2nd gen range

91 and 92 GTs use the BIG 3 piece wrap around spoiler. 93-96 GTs use the same one piece curved spoiler that is found on the LXs. ;-)

I´ve had the wing off my 93 EGT to put in new retainers. While test fitting I did notice that all three contact areas did sit flat on the deck without having to be forced and held in a stressed shape. So the wing´s curvature is the same as the deck. The factory did use moulding tape under the outside legs and so did I. This cured the rattle for a while. Your 3rd gen Escort has a more curved deck. Did you consider heating and bending the wing to match your deck? I´m not sure I could pull it off without ruining it but it´s an idea anyway. :-D

Which is why I like the early 2nd gen GTs (I´ve got a 91).

The spoiler gets a lot of looks- hey, is that an escort?

Otherwise everyone would think I drive a piece of shit LX (and yes I do own an LX too, but the GT r4pz0rZ the LX )

oh by the way, out in the boneyard, there´s a wicked wicked early like prototype pre-1st gen EGT and it´s got this freakin pimp black foamy spoiler on it.. I´ll try to get a pic, but it´s pimp

Thanks for the replys . I talkedto a guy tonite at work who installs spoilers and other bodywork for a living . he looked at the pictures I took and said it probably will not fit because of the curvature of my rear deck . He felt that we would crack the spoiler so, back to the drawing boards for now. Does anyone know of a good 2 post mount spoiler that has the same basic shape as the late 2nd gen spoiler ? mine will be available as soon as I`m sure I .can`t use it myself
