I was wanting to do the 1993-96

    Mazda MX-3 dash

And if it is at my local junk yard, i will

I have heard a lot of talk about it.

So I am asking directly for any info about making it work, so I don't run into as many snares.

    Thanks :)

Making it work will be nothing but snares. I know of a member who had attempted it and lost interest. Custom brackets, wiring headaches; they will be there for you.

reviving from the dead here. i REALLY need an mx3 rear view mirror. im really into the audio competition stuff and frequently break off my rear view mirror. the glue just doesnt hold. seeing as how the mx3 mirrors bolts on, it should be the perfect fix to my problem. if anyone can tell me the specific year mx3 i should be looking for at the JY id really appreciate it. OR if someone has one for sale that'd be even better :) id even give ya my stocker if ya'd like. thanks for the help

I am pretty sure the 323 had the mirror mounted to the roof as well.

For those who don't wanna import manual seatbelts from Canada, it seems the 2nd Gen Probe seatbelts work perfectly in our cars. There's a how-to on Clubprotege for swapping them into a 323, and I'm in the middle of doing the swap in my Escort as well. I just need to tap the hole for the uppermost mount, which is the same one you have to tap on the Canada belt swap. They also work with stock Escort lap belt buckles with no issue.

IIRC many different cars belts work just fine in our cars, the problem is for someone who is wanting to make a nice swap including interior trim panels, thus making the Canadian swap most desirable.
    Thanks for the info, Bill.

yeah, I found out today(after tapping the hole and bolting everything up) that the lower anchor doesn't work well with the massive gaping hole where my lap belt reel used to be. Oh well, I'll be putting a new carpet in sooner or later anyways. I will probably hunt down some Canadian a/b pillar trim eventually, but for now I'll just cut a little slot in my auto-belt trim to allow the manual belt to slide through.

Does anyone know? Will the seats from a ZX2 fit in a Mustang?

Not without modification. ZX2 seats will fit any 2nd or 3rd gen Escort, 90-94 Protege/323, and the MX3, but will sit rather high in the MX3.

    Leather Interior

Was there leather as an interior option in the 3rd Gen wagons?
I have read thru this entire thread and the only reference to leather was making your own seat covers. Were there Mazda products that had leather that would work? Anyone ever try Contour interior parts?
This is just a dream at this time. I would like to make my 99 SW a more quality looking product. It has a tan interior which might be a PITA to match. Guess that is why there is dye.
    Thanks,
    -Dave

I know there were 3rd gen Tracer wagons that had leather seats. You could always swap the seats from an Escort/Tracer that has leather into your wagon or swap the seat covers. I have heard that even the rear seats from a sedan will swap into a wagon.

    Thanks Matt,
I have been looking for 3 years at Escorts and Tracers here on the West Coast and have yet to see one with leather. Never seen one. Then if I did find one, I probably would pop for the price.
Wonder if "Sandy" has created totaled leather interior Escorts or Tracers?

iirc 3rd gen Tracer LS Wagons had leather as an option. Some ZX2 had leather as an option as well. I think the previous discussion was centered around the MX-3 seats because so many of us prefer and have swapped in those seats.
Also, iirc, sedan/coupe rear seats do not swap into the wagons.

IIRC I've seen sedan rear seats swapped into a wagon.

Wagons have a totally different width and seat back mounting iirc and are not a direct bolt-in swap.

Then explain why when I measured my wagon's back seat and the back seat in my bro's ZX2 they were both the same width?

Because when you took that curled up metal yellow thingy and stretched it across the seats the little black line thingy was at the same place when you did it on both. J/K

However, like many things the devil is in the details. The interior seat measurements may very well be the same (or very close) and is a safe assumption because all of these models 2-3 gen are built on the same platform and have the same basic interior/exterior dimensions. The important thing to do is to remove both seat backs and then measure the mounting points.
Most of my experience is with the 2nd gens, and the 2nd and 3rd gen wagons are basically the same and I know for fact no other seat back will directly swap into a wagon other than another wagon.
Again, I stated iirc, and again iirc the seat back mounting points are totally different. But please let us know what you find when you measure both models mounting points.
    HTH, Bill.
