Just a bump for info, i swapped mine in yesterday, and for the cable that controls where the air goes thru etc, the escort one is MUCH too short. you need a pro/mx3 cable for it. the heater control one, however, is just right.

also, the defogger rocker switch, i havent seen anyone mention that.

ill posst a pic later. but when you slide the escort HVAC to defog, it activates a swotch. The mx-3 panel (or at least mine) does not have teh switch.

And my wiring is wack. i can only get fan 2 and 4, or 1 and 3 to work. and teh wiring on teh mx3 plug is very different from the escort one.

94 pro mirrors work too, you just have to modify the interiors triangle pieces a little bit

    a couple questions,

i got the mx-3 mirror but am i going to need to cut the headliner? i mached it up and it doesn't sit flush, and i don't want the yellow piece showing, kinda ghetto imo.

ALSO the heater controls for the tracer hvack seems to be a little too long, it pushes the unit forward and wont allow me to properly secure the instrument bezel, did any one have to modify this?

ou could also add that the mx-3 weather stripping will fit the escort, you just have too trim(kind of a given)

ha ha i put crappy blue leds to illuminate the floor and it looks pretty good. even wired them so they turn on with the park lights. cost me 10 bucks. but to tell u the truth, its something a civic owner would do but hey, they go great when im blasting the techno!

No actual pics of the MX3 console in a second gen? I only want to use the rear part, with the armrest. Is that even possible?

    Thanks :)

Any seats from a MX3 will bolt into the 2nd gen Escort/Tracer. The rear center console piece is close to bolt in, there is a rear mount that can be eliminated, but you want to use the seat belt guides from the MX3 rear console, the holes for the belts are in different locations. The colors will be different too. The belts should work to, if you want to go black. I have belts from a Protege in my car, and several other interior pieces.

just a socket set. Get the seats and rails from the MX3... it is a direct swap.

    Just to add.

My MX3 lower dash/hvac swap is super easy. Did it a year ago now for sure.

-You will have to re-pin your Fan speed plug. Easy with a needle to pop the pins out.
-You have to do a little finicky electrical work to get the face to light up....and the stock cig lighter wires are a little short
-You need to use the MX3 cables all around. Escort ones are too short when mixed with the new gear.
-Get the lower tube bar under the glove box. Ditch the Escort one....and get the fan motor cover panel with the pop pins.
-Do the cool bracket/mount if you have Vac controlled recirc. I never bothered to do it cause I always have it to fresh air anyways.

If you want a heavier shift knob, get one from the 2nd gen. Protege. It is nearly 1/2 lb heavier, over twice as heavy as the Escort one.

All right thanks Dave94LX. That really helped. I really hope that I can find a nice set of MX3 seats. Can I use the rails from the Escort to put the MX3 seats in?

You won't even need to swap the rails. The entire seat is plug and play.
