I'm not on this board often, but it's late and i'm board so here i go..

I have a completely stock '92 5-speed EGT, no mods other than a K&N cone filter, which I doubt added any horsepower...

On my way home from my girlfriend's house, i see a 240sx spinning tires with an integra behind it.. so i follow, waiting for a red light. 3 lane road, and what do you know, a red light. 240 on my right, integra (which i noticed was a gsr, had an intake, and had drag radials on the front) on my left. Nod at both the drivers (it's a hott chick in the gsr), wait for the green light. It goes and we're off, 240 jumps me about 1 car from the line, then i catch up and pass him somewhere in 3rd gear, and i never see him again. As for the GSR, we were neck and neck all the way to 110 when she EVER so slightly started to pull away. At 120+ (i need a higher speedometer) when we both let off, her rear bumper was at my front bumper.

I just thought i'd share. I don't know if all of these little escorts are this quick, but it shocked the hell outta these 2 kids. :) Good times.

You got the jump on that GSR then. The slowest GSR was the 92 model which does the 1/4 mile in 16 flat.

As for the 240sx I'm not surprised that you took him... the fastest 240 does the quarter mile in 16.5 seconds, dead even with a stock EGT.

Well...the 240sx could really kick your ass, but it depend a lot on it's configuration...the north american version of the 240 sx is very cheap in comparison to the japenese one....the USA one have a 4 cylinders engine that suck a lot..but can be easyly mod. to produced a hell load of HP...but the Silvia edition ( from japan) is a LOT LOT LOT LOT BETTER :) i don't know how much hp it produces..

lol 92...actually...they don't. I'm just a pathetic loser of a post whore who thinks mainly about my car

The 240sx is slow for the size engine it has in it, but Nissan is right in the middle of the aftermarket with any and all of it's engines. that 2.4 I'm sure could easily be removed and you could prolly throw in a 2.5 from the new Spec V.
The cheaper route (slightly) would just to upgrade the 2.4...Nissan is notorious for putting 300 rated crankshafts in 150 hp engines. a simple turbo, intake and exhaust would do the trick to get a 240 moving. Best of all that car is RWD...power slides and burnouts are cool.

actually, my neighbor has a 240, and it is an insanely fun car to drive. The 2.4 is actually a truck engine and makes insane amounts of torque, so if you have the lsd, a decent set of tires, and a decent clutch foot, they can make some crazy 60ft dashes, but they are by no means fast. the most popular swap is the 2.0turbo from japan, however turboing the 2.4 that's already in there is becoming much more popular. A pretty small turbo kit usually close to doubles the HP output on those beasts.

p.s. i hate the new 2.5. talk about the 3.5's.. now THAT'S an engine..

Yeah those QR20DETs are pretty nice. However the QR25DEs aren't slacking by any means. There's already aftermarket parts out for the Spec V engine. I do agree the 3.5 is quite nice...especially put in the 350Z w/ that 6 sp manual. Ever see the new Infiniti G35 sport coupe? holy crap that thing is tight. same engine and chassis as the 350Z.

I drove that 240 once, it was really tight. but I had the fat ass dealer guy in the car with me. They wanted 6900 dollars for a 92 with 68k miles on it. It looked great, but thats rediculous.

f' a 350z - go test drive one of those 3.5 altimas. they will scare your pants off. :) cruise at 4k in first gear then punch it. you will pee on yourself from the torque-steer. and you can talk all the jibba-jabba you want, i still hate the new 2.5's.

You say F* the 350 but go drive a heavier car with the same engine and less hp...and you'll pee yourself? Wow that makes sense. :?

Drive that short shift 6 sp 3.5 V6 in the 350Z and do some powerslides. Talk about major major fun.

If you don't like the 2.5 so be it, but that doesn't mean it's not a good engine.

:D go drive both yourself and see which one makes your heart race more. the torque steer and overall "brute grunt" of a fwd car with that much power makes it quite surprising. :) i've driven a 350, and rode in 2 others, but nothing ever "scared" me about them, i thought they were both quite tame, and could use some more power.
