ok guys heres the scoop.

i have contacted a custom body kit designer in california who has agreed to make 10 sets of custom "x1" fenders for the 2nd gen, 91-96 ford escort.

the deal is we have to have 10 pre orders, or "paid in advance" before they can make the fenders. the cost for 1 pair or set is $225.00 in advance, then once shipped you pay shipping cost on delivery.

I already have 5-6 people who want them so it shouldnt be long!!

examples of what x1 fenders look like :

Anyone interested can contact me with questions

if your positive you want in on the deal and you want a set of these fantastic beautiful fenders then send me the following info:

your name, your email address, your yr/mdl escort, when you can pay the $225.00 in advance.

Thanks,
James Kelley

so you know this is not a scam the company doing the fenders can be contacted at "http://bodykits.org"

Thanks again,
James

lol...see if ur posting was at like 300 or even 100...i might believe you....u say its a "deal" but how do we know ur not that company....or how do we know they dont really cost like 200 bucks?? Personally, i only see one incentive for you posting that...you're in it for some sort of cash incentive or a gift...If it was me offering.

Hmmm. well the website looks fine. And I would hardly think that 2250 bucks is worth running a scam. Especially since we could probably track down the owners. Has anyone dealt with them before? Does the name ring a bell for anyone?

I like the X1 fenders - would certainly consider getting a set over the Z3s - which I now see on about every modded Civic in town! Anyways, though, no offense to RacingAZ, but I don't do group-buys. Just too much risk. Still smarting over the Compass Motorsports deal - I had my money ready at the last second to get a bar but had to invest it in the Grand Prix instead. Lo and behold how the CMS deal went bad. I consider myself lucky that the GP broke when it did.

To get a good group-buy, you've got to give people a good feeling that they're not going to get ripped. Granted, this site may be legitimate. But what bothers me is the contact information:

For product information, advertising information, OR to order by phone and all other related inquries:

Tel: 909-923-8400
Tel2: 909-628-5366
Fax: 909-548-3876
AIM: bodykitseller
E-mail: [email protected]

Mailing Address:
P.O. Box 643
Walnut, CA 91788

There are phone numbers and a fax which could be cellular. And the mailing address is a po box. No physical location. I'd like to see something like:

Name of company
physical location of store
city, state, zip
phone
fax.

Something physically verifiable. Plus there is no domain name email address, it's based out of America Online, which anyone can setup an account for free.

Again, the site may be perfectly fine. But there's enough warning signs to raise the yellow flag of caution.

Perhaps you can post the info instead of a link. Some of us are not members of ERDT. Shame ERDT feels the need to secure its topics. Why not a read-only option for visitors? Not like Escort tuning is a matter of national security...

If you google their phone numbers they link to another outfit at www.verticaldoors.com What bothers me is there is no physical location and I can't find anything about them. Still digging - actually do a good deal of this in my job.

I can't find anything. I like the pics, but I am very wary of group buys especially since the gallery on the website consists of 4 cars. Does anyone know this guy personally?

Hey guys the place is legit, I have both called and driven by. I live half an hour from Walnut and wanted to check them out after seeing a similar thing from another guy, on FEOA. THey actually do the group buy thing for custom orders. I called the numbers and got responses back from the company. I found it hard to believe too, but I thikn that it is good to go. I won't buy those fenders though. I like the Z3 style better.

Just to clear things up.

anyone can call me night or day and discuss it with me. this is not a scam im trying to get fenders for my car and the only way is to get 9 others with me.

i work 8 hours a day and im up most of the night. so if you get my answering machine then just leave a message.

This is for people who are SERIOUS and interested in the fenders, if you just want to talk trash and ruin this for everyone else please dont post in my topic.
