an old Escort with 220,000 miles on it is pretty close to worthless on the open market, close to whatever the junkyard might be willing to pay for it. Espically since it need new bumpers and has hail damage.

Mine threw a rod at 74,000 miles.

And you said it looked well lived in. It's realtively easy to find Escorts that look fairly new inside, even if it's old. My 1984GT looked great on the interior when I junked it after 11 years and 157,000 miles.

OK, Siragan probably said it better, but $500 for that car is way too much when you can get a fairly nice old EGT for $1000-$1500.
