So, am I correct in reading that new members who have not attended previous meetings are welcome?
I have been trying to find a good escort meet, but haven't gotten a decent schedule with work.
I may be able to make this meet considering its on a weekend, but that would be just a maybe.

    Bump.

So, there are still only 2 confirmed people coming? Myself and Boss Man?

As long as nothing serious comes up, I should be able to go. You can put me down as confirmed.
If nothing else, it will make a good road trip. :)

    That's the plan. :)

To be honest, I didn't think anyone actually knew that pic was on this site. For you to have actually put forth the effort to find it and link it into a post makes me feel special.
That, and it will probably make it easier for other attendees to figure out who I am on the day of the meet.

Go back to the first post and answer my questions so I can keep track of the specifics.

    1. Around noon. Realistically, 11:00-11:30. I try to give a large margin for unwanted delays, and I'm more than willing to help set up.
    2. Burgers, or dogs. Buns, or rolls. Soda. Some sort of salad. Just let me know what we'll have the least of.
    3. Unfortunately I'm 3 months before my 21st birthday so I cannot buy/drink alcohol, but I'll drop a few dollars towards the tab anyway.
    4. 2 each, maybe. I'll have a small cooler for whatever I bring, so I can use it for any leftovers.

    Hope this helps! :D

I'm hoping to attend! Depending on work and all, shouldn't be a problem now I have a set date to give to the boss.
    1. If all works out, i should be there around noon.
    2. I'll bring what is needed, let me know.
    3. Myself and maybe +1.
    4. Possibly 2 6 packs of what I can find at the local brewery( Troegs or Appalacian House)

Cool, I added you to the list of tentatives. Let me know when it's confirmed.

Also, I asked downlowescort92 if he wanted to attend, but he hasn't read my PM. We hit the JY down in MD when I lived there, but last I heard he had moved to York, PA. He had a GTX or GTR that he was building but I don't know if it ever got finished.

Other tentatives - any updates on your availability?

Well, at this point the Pony is not going to be done in time to bring it to the meet. The silver car is still smashed up and not inspected - so it looks like I'll be one of the ones without an Escort. Guess I'll clean up the Accent and bring it. Pretty angry at the guy doing the paint - it was supposed to be done at the end of JUNE.

Ouch. I know how it feels to have your "reputable" shop have "unexpected" delays/mistakes.
Hopefully they're not asking for anything extra, aside from your time and patience.

Well... it's my girlfriend's dad who is doing the work, and the problem is that no work is being done. He does excellent work when he actually does it. We ran into the same problem with the 1996 - it sat in his shop for a year. We really couldn't complain because he was doing it for free, but we had an agreement that the Pony would be done by the end of June (was supposed to start the job mid-May and didn't start until mid-June instead) and I paid in advance for the supplies and gave him some money for his time. He hasn't asked for any other compensation, but I was really expecting to be able to bring the car to the meet this year.

I tried taking the car to reputable shops, but they turned me away because of the previous DIY body work. No legit shops wanted to touch the car so I had to give it to a family member to do. I can't even fix the 1996 until the 1991 is done - because I need the passenger door from the 1991 to be repaired, primed, and painted silver before I can even go get the 1996 inspected.

At least you can get the work done for less money. My uncle runs a shop, and does absolutely spectacular work. But, he won't touch anything YOUNGER than 1987 right now.

I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm talking down at your friends shop, it's just that I've had some bad experiences with shops that are well known for their work.

I took my escort to a shop my parents have been using since forever, Schwartz & Nagel, to get an alignment after replacing my rear struts. After getting the car in the air, the mechanic saw that I had shredded a rotor, so he advised me to have it replaced. I let the shop replace them because they gave me a good deal and expressed the parts from NAPA. The job was done quickly and completely, considering I watched the mechanic both swap out the front brakes and do the alignment. What I didn't realize, was that taking a radial grinder to a brand new set of rotors is not normal. I now know better. Within 2 weeks the entire braking system went down hill, and I have a warped rotor. Not to mention, they did not give me the parts they charged me for. Needless to say, the ONLY thing I'm letting them do in the future is alignment, since I can't yet do that myself.

I'll be there, alone most likely! Bringing the Pony, and I'll bring a case of something! Is anything else needed?
