My friend hit a deer and was thinking of getting of the car. The motor is a 2.0 dual overhead cam mazda motor....130HP. The car is complete, just banged up and the frame is bent in a cpl places. Is that an easy swap? I currently have a 93 escort 1.9 5spd. I heard that this engine is very similar to the 1.8, just bored out to 2.0.

nothing in common. literally nothing. i know because i have a 1.8bp egt setup in my 2003 mazdaspeed and i had to swap EVERYTHING. there is a guy named xelderx on club protege that did the 3rd gen fs swap into his 1st gen protege which is similar, but he also had to swap EVERYTHING. go read through a few pages of his swap thread on clubprotege.com and get a feel if its a project you really feel like spending the time on. it wont be very fast and will be alot of work. IMO look into a simple turbo setup for your 1.9l sohc. you can do it inexpensively just read through some threads in the forced induction section. all you need is a aftermarket clutch and a~$300-$500 on turbo parts to get you up and going. you can always upgrade the turbo kit afterwards 1 part at a time.

or just buy a escort gt they are like $500 lol

Thanks for the response. I have been gone because of a death in the family. I have turbo parts that ive been gathering. From what it sounds like, its easier to turbo the 1.9 than do that engine swap. I will stay on the path of of turboing the 1.9. Thanks again.
