I read a post on this site stating that a 2.3l turbo may bolt in with minor mount modification. Is this true? Can the 2.3 from SVO or Thunderbird mount to the stock transmission. What kind of work will need to be done for this type of engine. I heard it has been done before with out altering the drivetrain and that it bolts to the stock tranny. Was I misinformed?

Yes it has done before. It will bolt to the first gen tranny. You will need basic welding skills and a knowledge of electrical wiring. Do a search with my callname.

I am not sure but the 87&88 turbo coupe had 190HP with the fuel switch in premium.I can tell you what HP a SVO had if you give me the year.

Wow, good to see your around.

I see your working on a RWD conversion, and using the 2.3L

what was the demise of the red lx? (wondering if the tranny-x and you decided FWD was shit)

did you take pictures of the swap while it was in progress?

to my understanding the only thing you gotta do is have small hands and fabricate a motor mount(s).

i couldn't find your video.. that grocery getter got going!

That wasnt my video. The guy that bought the car from me made it. i doubt if the car is still on the street. It had a serious case of rust in the rear shock towers. As for small hands, there is plenty of room to work on the engine once installed. You do hafta cut out the passenger side engine bay quite a bit.

Why can't you use 2.3L Tempo motormounts?

Completely different motor. The tempo 2.3 is a pushrod engine and the turbo coupe 2.3 is overhead cam. There is only one mount you will have to make but the pulley on the TC motor interferes with the passenger frame rail so you will have to cut some of it out and reinforce the unibody on that side.
