Ok, I found an early 90s Mazda 626 GT with a 2.2L turbo. its the complete car. and I was wondering if it is possible to swap it in a 93 LX and if it is does anyone know how hard it will be. like is it a do it yourself or take it to a shop and have them do it for me.

Any projections on the HP I can get from it after re-doing all the internals and putting a bigger turbo on it and bump it to 15psi? I want to put new pistons, rods, valves etc in it so it can safely run that much boost.

Stock I believe they have 145HP and 135lbs of torque.

Turbo is small and probably puts out 5lbs of boost.

Well any info on this swap and or modifications to that engine without going over 1500 bux and still having it a daily driver would be appreciated! :)

Well first you would have to swap to all GT stuff under the hood. and even then it woudn't bolt up to the tranny. Your best bet is to either turbo you CVH engine or swap to a BP or BPT which would require essentially everything under the hood of a GT. the Zetec is a decent way to go. that would bolt up to your tranny

wtf... just restore the 626 and lose some weight. The process of converting to the GT won't be easy. Besides, the 2.2L turbo in the 626 (I've seen it myself, I happen to have one in the bonyard, one of the very very few turbo'd cars) isn't an exceptional engine. You're better off spending your time and money upgrading the 1.8L mazda BP you already have in the GT.

oh shit I forgot you had an LX... um nevermind.

other options

Ok what are my other options, sticking with 4 cylinders only!
I know the 2.0 SPI will go into my LX just fine, but I want an engine that already has a turbo on it. and is over 140HP stock. Front wheel drive is a must. and I dont want to spend over 1grand for the motor and anything else for it to work.
