I have all kinds of 1.9 escorts as well as 2.0 automatics, i took a motor apart today that on the clutch and flywheel said PERFORMANCE CLUTCH. Is this a standard clutch for a 97 2.0? If not what exactly is it? I have experience with the 2.0 autos but this is my first 5 speed.

The flywheel says Performance clutch 50-2704and the clutch says4307 and then D80160/80170.
The flywheel is probably twice as thick as a regular flywheel to.

why would a performance clutch weigh twice as much as a stock one? I thought that the whole idea was to make it lighter
