Hi, This is my first time here. I just bought a 93 GT and instantly fell in love with it. My mom has a 96 lx 3 door that looked the same and is a good car, but that´s where the similaraties on the two end. Her whimpering 88 hp motor does a decent job pushing the little car around, but when I stepped into my new GT and that Madza engine proudly snarled back at me I was in love. Having to drive this car 1400 miles from Portland Oregon to my home in Phoenix AZ let me get real acquainted with this underappreciated little pocket rocket from Ford. :-]

I´ve got a 95LX and a 91GT, both manual trannies of course, and the GT whoops the LX in every aspect. Handling, power band, overall power... everything.

I´ve test driven many automatic escorts and the difference between that and my manual LX is like night and day. The autoes suck like mad. It just turns what was a fairly nimble and responsive 1.9L to a very sluggish and disconnected feeling 1.9L.

Yeah, don´t buy automatic cars, especially if they run on wimpy 4-cyl engines.
