I was told this will give me more power.

I have an '86 EGT

So i feel dumb for asking:

What plug wire do i need to connect the timing light to,

And how far do i need to advance the timing?

Always #1 cylinder. 10degrees base timming.

8-10 degrees BTDC is the base timing with the SPOUT shunt disconnected... it's the little gray or black plastic connector near the TFI module. Usually non-roller heads had 10 degrees as base timing, with roller cam models having 8. You can easily set it up to 12 or 14 if you want to run premium gas.
