alright, this is going out to you engine swap gurus out there....

my predicament......

i have a 86 gt, losts of new parts, everything possible has been replaced, and nothing has worked....

i´m looking to do an engine swap....
now, i´m 17, and have 2...2000$$ options....1,

find a new/rebuilt 86 engine...and transplant....

or buy a new car...

i would love to keep this scort going, but i don´t really want to drop more than another grand into it....

would it be sufficent to just swap another engine into it? my current engine has the following: new cyl. head, new gaskets all around, new ignition module, cap rotor, plugs, wires, coil, clutch, tires, brakes, exhaust, battery, and some other misc parts.....

i basically could find another escort engine, and swap my brand new parts to a new engine, but, this wouldn´t really give me a clear cut answer to the car actually running.....

i´m lost on what to do......

i´m taking every suggestion...this car is just to good to junk....alot of sweat and money was put into it, and i hate to see her go...but it needs to be done....

anyone looking for a cheap project? i dunno, suggestions guys?

Definitely don´t junk that thing, way too much energy, money and time put into it. I´d stick it out, despite what my parents would say if i were in your position. Find another engine to put into the car, but keep that one and try to figure out what it could be that´s wrong.

to tell you the truth i don´t really know whats wrong with it....

the car ran perfectly fine til we did the head gasket repair......than ran very shitty.....let her sit out during the summer, needed a clutch.....ran perfect amazing considering she sat for like 3 months...put the new clutch in it....my dad screwed up the spark plug order, and she never really start....reversed what the father did, and she started....took her for a spin, she stalled out at the end of my drive way......got it running again, and she stalled out after i came up the hill to my house.....go her home, and she never worked sense....she, starts, and dies when i go to move....

which leads me to a next question....considering if i could find this engine.......if i could find a nice exp turbo charged engine from a 80´s exp, would it bolt in? i mean with out changing much? or should i just find another 1.9l?

anyone have one that works that they wanna sell me?
