I recentley recieved a handsome sum of money and instead of buying a new car i decided to invest it in my 1990 escort GT.

Right now i´m not concerned about performance, i usually beat people with its stock set up(i dont race alot mind you, but when i do its just those stupid little high school parking lot races) I wanna improve its look bigtime, every thing is decent there are a few rust spots and some paint discoloration but i plan to get the car´s body redone and repainted. Here is what i will do to the car :

Tinted Windows,
Merkur Double Wing Spoiler,
A very boomin sound system,
Some mustang type rims,
Black paint job with white racing stripe down left side,
Custom painting inside going for a Black and White theme,
New Stick Shift (8-Ball prob)
New Racing Seats (even though i dont race)

Those are the mods i will get done but here some mods i want done but not sure if i can get done(if you get what i´m saying)

Halogen Lights (i think those are the real bright ones not sure though)

Clear Tail and Corner lights

Lowering Springs ( dunno if my car will support them, if my car can what is a good height)

Better Gril (the one that says Escort GT)

Neons underneath

Thats all i can think of, if any of you know any other mods please post, like i said before i am going for looks with this and will worry about performance down the line. I wanna show up some of them Gay hondas i see everywhere, i can already beat them might as well look better than them.

Cy: Suspension Technique Lowering Springs. It dropped my 88.5 LX 1.5" all around with no problem. I even have a big sound system in the back and she holds very well, the springs that is. I use regular Gab struts too. I payed under 200.00 for the complete spring setup, all four springs.

So your car can handle the drop. The place I got them from is www.cyberauto.com. Hope this helps you some. Let me know if you need anymore information.

thanks rascal , well i went to a junk yard near my house and i found two merkur double wing spoilers, the dude wants $100 bucks for them. Just wondering how would i go about Taking off my old spoiler and adding this new one, and if i need to make any modifcations what should i do, this will be my first mod, i am keeping a journal too as i do all this. I´m not really a car dude but i know a little bit, i am very excited about this project i cant wait till its completed.

Dude, buy them both if you can. I would love to have on of them bad boys. As far as putting them on I checked out www.adam.patzer.com and he said he was suposed to have a tech article on how to do it soon. I was going to buy one from him, but he stopped selling them.

Ya first Gens do Rule

, i´ll be buying the double wing spoiler next week prob.

I know Cosworth Wananabe has one on his scort, in matter of fact his scort inspired me to wanna do this, i still need instructions how to take off my old one and how to add this merkur one, and i need to know what mods i might have to make, if any one can help please do, oh yeah this is all going in a journal and when i´m done with my project i´m gonna post it, this should help those people who dont know alot about cars (like me), but i am enthusiastic about it.k

I hear ya, Cosy´s car is the shiznit. Anyway, I can tell you what it take´s to get gour stack one off. I did mine before because it was starting to look dull, so I yanked it off and hit it with a can of flat black paint ant it looks pretty good now. anyway here goes...
First open your hatch, (duh) after that there should be a plastic panel with like 4-6 screws holding it in place right above your head that is as wide as the hatch is. Remove it. In there is you rear wiper motor (if you have a rear wiper) Mine had acctually come loose so I tightened it while I was in there. Also in there you will see some nuts (hopefully not the kind that come from trees) (PS did taquilla shots last night so bear with the lame ass dry humor, I´m doing all I can to even see straight let alone remember how to take my spoiler off) Where was I? Oh yea, wiper motor, nuts... So anyway you tak the nuts off the coresponding nuts off the bottom of the spoiler, I think there is one hidden somewhat by the washer motor, I cant recall, but the bolt pattern is symetrical so you will have the sam amount of nuts on the right as you do on the left. So after you have all your nut in your hand, (

)(sorry, mechanic humor, had to do it) so all the nuts are off, close the hatch all the way (make sure you don´t leave your keys in the car if all other doors are locked. It sucks trust me) Anyway close the hatch, put down your nuts, (

) and give th spoiler a good pull, (

) it may be seated pretty well, but if it´s too hard check your nuts again an make sure they are all off. Hapefully that has been of some help to you, and hopefully youdon´t get too offended by the nut jokes. (Damn that taquilla) Any more questions, just ask. (might want to wait till I sober up a little though)

Ok thanks bro, i am writing a journal and making this journal into a guide in about 2-3 months everything should be finished, i should have the only modded scort in my area, i see a bunch but usually no one mods them, just rims and tint (bleh), i´ll remeber to give you credit for the parts youve helped me on. thanks again

Thanks man. I saw in another post that you got a hold of one of the wings. Did you happen to pick up the other? I bet you could get top dollar on ebay for one of those wings. By the way, I just noticed you live in Suffolk, VA. I was staitioned daonw in that area for a few months Whil I was in the Army. Probably one of the better places I´ve been besides AZ.
