My 1st Gen GL isn't as pretty as it was in this 2007 picture so it's time for new paint. I had pretty serious cancer under a couple of the roof strips, and the lower rear quarter panel (under the bumper guards), all of that is fixed.

I've got the windshield and rear window metal trim strips off. The front and read door trim are held on with screws. But I can't figure out what holds the rear quarter window trim on. Anybody have a clue?

I think it bolts in from the inside. I think you have to take the big trim panels off to get it off.

If its like a 2nd gen wagon, you have to take the window out - and the window trim strips come off as part of that. This of course also involves taking off the plastic parts on the interior.

oh, it might just push out. I never took them out, but a friend of mine did.

I had a 1981 GL, and I did the same thing. I remember that metal trim being held in with screws. Your car, and mine, share the same basic body style. I don't know if you figured out what to do by now, but I just thought I would provide some insight.
